Netflix has released the official red band trailer and key art for The Mosquito Bowl, Peter Berg’s upcoming World War II film starring Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis.
The film will be released in theaters on October 30, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on November 25, 2026.
Based on Buzz Bissinger’s book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II, the film follows four college football stars who leave their lives and careers behind to enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Mosquito Bowl Trailer Introduces the Story Behind the Game
At the center of The Mosquito Bowl is a group of men preparing for the invasion of Okinawa while serving in the Marines during World War II.
Before the invasion, they take part in a football game featuring some of the most accomplished players of their generation. For many of the men involved, it will be the final game they ever play.
The film is inspired by the real story chronicled in Bissinger’s book, bringing together its football and wartime stories rather than treating the game separately from what awaited the players afterward.
“This is a film about young men who were sports heroes at home and became war heroes on the shores of the Pacific,” Berg said in comments shared with Tudum.
He added: “The Mosquito Bowl honors the humanity of those who fought, mourns those who never came home, and reminds us of the true cost of war.”
Berg directs the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith.

Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis lead the cast of The Mosquito Bowl.
The ensemble also includes Brent Comer, Dominic Bogart, Jack Ingram, Ella Newton, Peter Berg, Lola Bond, Stacy Clausen, Billy Smith, Steven Sammut, Blake Erickson, Claudia Ware, and Pat McAfee.
Berg produces through Film 44 alongside Brian Grazer for Imagine Entertainment and Alex Gayner. Ezra Emanuel, Buzz Bissinger, and Jeb Brody serve as executive producers.
Jacques Jouffret serves as director of photography, with Phil Ivey as production designer and Liz McGregor as costume designer. The score comes from Explosions in the Sky.
When Is The Mosquito Bowl Coming to Netflix?
The Mosquito Bowl will have a theatrical window before its Netflix release.
The film opens in theaters on October 30, giving it almost a month on the big screen before it becomes available to stream on Netflix on November 25.
