‘The Mosquito Bowl’ Trailer Reveals Peter Berg’s WWII Football Drama Coming to Netflix in November

Netflix has released the official trailer and key art for The Mosquito Bowl, Peter Berg’s upcoming World War II drama starring Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson and Tom Francis.

The film will first open in theaters on October 30, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on November 25, 2026. Berg directs and co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith, adapting Buzz Bissinger’s book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II.

What Is The Mosquito Bowl About?

The Mosquito Bowl follows four of America’s top college football players after the attack on Pearl Harbor. They leave their fame behind to enlist in the Marines and eventually prepare for the invasion of Okinawa.

Before that battle, they take part in a football game featuring some of the best players of their generation. For many of the men on the field, it will be the final game they ever play.

The story comes from Bissinger’s nonfiction book, which Berg and Smith adapted for the screen.

Speaking to Netflix, Berg described the film as being about “young men who were sports heroes at home and became war heroes on the shores of the Pacific.”

“The Mosquito Bowl honors the humanity of those who fought, mourns those who never came home, and reminds us of the true cost of war,” Berg added.
