Margo’s Got Money Troubles Episode 7 Recap: Everything Starts Falling Apart

Episode 7 of Margo’s Got Money Troubles pushes every character into crisis mode. What began as a custody fight between Margo and Mark quickly turns into something much bigger once Jinx overdoses and child protective services become involved.

The episode is heavy almost from start to finish. Nobody really gets a break. Margo spends most of the hour trying to hold herself together while people around her keep making decisions that threaten her chances of keeping Bodhi.

The Custody Mediation Turns Ugly Fast

The episode begins with Margo, Shayanne, and Jinx meeting with Lace, who is now acting as Margo’s lawyer.

Lace advises Margo to choose mediation rather than immediately escalating the custody battle. Her main advice is simple: be honest and let the mediator see the real version of her instead of trying to be perfect.

That becomes harder once Mark and his mother, Elizabeth, arrive.

During mediation, only Margo, Mark, and their lawyers participate directly, while Shayanne and Elizabeth wait outside. Mark argues for full custody by painting Margo as unstable and unfit. According to him, there are three major problems: her financial insecurity, her living situation with Jinx, and her work as a sex worker.

Margo responds by pointing out that Mark showed almost no interest in Bodhi until now.

Then Mark completely changes the tone of the room.

His response becomes personal, cruel, and openly judgmental. The speech clearly rattles Margo; you can see the damage on her face immediately.

Outside in the waiting room, things somehow become even worse.

Elizabeth tells Shayanne that Margo preyed on Mark and manipulated him. The conversation quickly turns vicious, and after several insulting comments, Shayanne punches Elizabeth directly in the face, breaking her jaw.

It is shocking, but honestly not surprising after the way Elizabeth speaks about Margo throughout the episode.

Shayanne gets arrested almost immediately, and Kenny later bails her out.

Jinx’s Overdose Changes Everything

Back at home, the episode shifts from legal stress into something far more frightening.

Margo realizes Jinx has been locked inside the bathroom for over an hour. Susie originally assumed he was meditating, but he stopped responding completely.

When they break the door open, they find him unconscious beside a syringe still in his arm.

Margo finds a pulse, and together she and Susie manage to wake him briefly. But while trying to move him away from the full bathtub, Jinx accidentally collapses backward onto Margo, pulling her into the water underneath him.

For a second, the situation becomes dangerous for both of them.

Susie manages to drag Jinx off her at the last possible moment while also beginning CPR. Margo injects him with naloxone, and together they manage to save his life before paramedics arrive.

The entire sequence is probably the hardest scene the show has done so far because it feels messy and frightening in a very grounded way.

Nobody looks in control.

Margo Is Forced to Choose Between Her Father and Bodhi

At the hospital, Shayanne and Kenny arrive alongside Lace.

Lace immediately explains how serious the situation now is for the custody case. Mark has requested a psychiatric evaluation for Margo and Bodhi, along with a home inspection.

More importantly, Lace tells Margo she has to get Jinx out of the house immediately.

Her explanation is brutal but realistic. Margo is already being judged as a 20-year-old sex worker whose mother was arrested for assault and whose father broke someone’s hand earlier in the season. Now there is also an overdose involving heroin inside the home where Bodhi lives.

Back home, Susie tells Margo essentially the same thing. Jinx used drugs inside the house while Bodhi was there. They cannot protect him from the consequences anymore.

Shayanne ends up driving Jinx to a treatment and recovery center. The episode shows pieces of the intake process in a quiet montage while Susie and Margo begin packing his belongings.

There is something genuinely sad about those scenes because for the first time all season, Jinx fully looks defeated.

Shayanne also decides to let him stay in the house she is still renting.

Child Protective Services Arrives at the House

Later, Jinx returns with Shayanne to collect his boxes from Margo’s home.

But when they arrive, two people are already waiting there: someone from child protective services and a public health nurse.

A complaint has been filed.

The workers explain they need to inspect the home, examine Bodhi, and write an official report. Margo agrees immediately, trying hard to stay calm while every part of her life is now being watched closely.

Jinx attempts to help by explaining that Margo insisted he move out after the overdose.

The inspection scenes are deeply uncomfortable because the show slows everything down. Margo is watched while changing Bodhi’s diaper. Every action suddenly feels like a test she could fail.

Susie quietly realizes someone likely reported them after the overdose, and the suspicion naturally falls on Mark.

Then the episode lands on one final terrible moment.

The social worker asks all three adults to provide urine samples for drug testing.

Jinx admits to the overdose the night before, but asking him to test anyway guarantees the result will come back positive. Even worse, his presence there immediately makes Margo’s situation look more dangerous in the eyes of child protective services.

And suddenly, the custody fight no longer feels theoretical anymore.
