Margo’s Got Money Troubles Episode 8 Recap: The Custody Battle Reaches Court

Episode 8 of Margo’s Got Money Troubles brings the custody storyline to its breaking point. After weeks of mediation sessions, psychological evaluations, and child protective services investigations, Margo and Mark finally end up in court fighting over Bodhi.

The finale spends most of its runtime asking one central question: who actually understands Bodhi as a child instead of as an argument? By the end of the episode, the answer becomes painfully obvious to almost everyone in the courtroom.

At the same time, the episode quietly closes several emotional arcs for Shayanne and Jinx while also setting up a new phase for Margo herself. The ending feels less like a clean victory and more like survival after a very long fight.

Margo Tries to Prove She Is a Fit Mother

The episode opens after the positive drug report connected to Jinx’s overdose. Lace recommends returning to mediation one more time before the custody case fully moves into court.

At the same time, Margo has to complete a psychiatric evaluation, while Shayanne is pressured to apologize to Elizabeth after breaking her jaw in the previous episode.

A montage follows several characters moving forward separately. Margo continues building Hungry Ghost content online while Jinx begins rebuilding himself physically and emotionally. After watching old wrestling footage, he realizes he cannot keep living as the man who destroyed his own life.

Meanwhile, Shayanne visits Elizabeth to apologize. Elizabeth accepts the apology in one of the episode’s strangest scenes. Rather than showing empathy, she tells Shayanne she has long been disappointed by Mark’s career path and can only imagine how disappointed Shayanne must feel about Margo.

Even while accepting the apology, she still manages to insult everyone involved.

Jinx also visits Susie to apologize for relapsing and scaring both her and Margo. Their friendship scenes are some of the most grounded in the show because Susie never excuses what happened while still clearly caring about him. She makes him promise never to do that again.

Margo Refuses to Be Ashamed of Hungry Ghost

As the court date approaches, KC and Rose encourage Margo not to downplay the creativity behind Hungry Ghost.

They tell her that performance, fantasy, and sex work can still be art, especially considering how much effort and imagination she puts into the character and videos.

That conversation matters because it directly connects to one of the episode’s biggest ideas: Margo is done apologizing for surviving the only way she currently can.

During mediation, Lace advises her to stay calm and extend an olive branch to Mark.

The psychiatric evaluation officially concludes that Margo is psychologically fit to maintain full custody of Bodhi. Considering the entire legal process began with accusations that she was unstable, the result should have changed everything.

It does not.

Mark refuses to withdraw the petition.

Instead, he claims Margo knowingly participated in his affair despite knowing he had a wife and children. He calls her environment dangerous and unstable, pointing to violence, sex work, and Jinx’s addiction.

Eventually, he says he would settle for joint custody if all interactions between Margo and Bodhi remain supervised for the first two years.

That destroys any remaining chance of cooperation.

Margo immediately accuses him of calling child protective services and forcing her through humiliating investigations. When Mark calls her a pervert, she finally snaps and physically lunges at him.

At that point, the mediation is effectively over.

The case moves to the superior court.

The Courtroom Finally Sees the Real Family

Before the hearing, Shayanne arrives with clothes for Margo to wear in court and discovers Margo and Susie preparing another Hungry Ghost set.

Shayanne still hopes Margo might eventually stop doing OnlyFans, especially now that the custody battle has become so serious.

Margo refuses.

She explains that the work pays for childcare, healthcare, and rent while also giving her creative fulfillment. She tells Shayanne she wants to create “creative science fiction splendor” through Hungry Ghost rather than feel ashamed of it.

Then she reminds her mother that she once taught her that women should never feel ashamed of their bodies.

That line quietly shifts the conversation because Shayanne realizes some of Margo’s confidence actually came from her.

The courtroom sequence itself is surprisingly direct.

The judge immediately cuts through most of the moral arguments and focuses on the actual child involved. He openly points out that Mark, a professor, got one of his students pregnant and is now attempting to claim moral superiority while seeking custody.

Mark admits his mistakes but insists he can provide a more stable home.

Margo responds by explaining that Bodhi already has a loving home filled with grandparents and support. What she does online may offend some people, but it is neither illegal nor proof that she is a bad mother.

The judge also questions Jinx and Shayanne directly.

Jinx admits he relapsed and moved out after the overdose. Shayanne admits to punching Elizabeth after Elizabeth insulted Margo.

Then the judge asks Susie to bring Bodhi into the courtroom.

Bodhi Decides the Case

The final sequence becomes the emotional center of the episode.

The judge passes Bodhi between everyone present.

Bodhi is calm with Margo, Jinx, and Susie because they are the people who actually raised him day-to-day. When Shayanne holds him, everyone braces for him to cry.

Instead, Bodhi recognizes the squat movement Jinx previously taught her and stays calm in Shayanne’s arms for the first time. Shayanne immediately begins crying because she finally feels like a real grandmother instead of someone standing outside the situation.

Then Mark holds Bodhi. And Bodhi instantly cries.

Not because Mark is evil, but because he is still essentially a stranger to his own child.

The judge ultimately rules that primary custody will remain with Margo, while Mark receives visitation on two weekends per month so Bodhi can know his father as he grows up.

It is the one compromise both sides can accept.

Before leaving court, Mark shocks everyone by admitting he never called child protective services.

That leaves only one possible answer.

Kenny finally confesses he made the report because he was worried about Bodhi’s safety after Jinx’s overdose. He never expected the situation to spiral into a full custody war.

The episode ends with Margo preparing for another Hungry Ghost livestream inside her new setup at home. A new fan named JB sends her $1,350 before the stream begins.

Alone in the room, Margo activates the camera, lifts her dress for the audience, and once again becomes Hungry Ghost.

The distorted voice repeats the phrase heard throughout the season: she crawled into your phone, and now she is here to stay.
