Netflix’s record-breaking Addams Family spinoff confirms a third season while fans gear up for Season 2’s double premiere.
Netflix has officially renewed Wednesday for Season 3, solidifying the Addams Family-inspired series as one of the platform’s biggest franchises to date. The announcement comes ahead of the show’s highly anticipated second season, which will arrive in two parts: Episodes 201–204 on August 6, and Episodes 205–208 on September 3.
Wednesday first premiered on November 23, 2022, and quickly climbed to become Netflix’s #1 English-language series of all time, amassing 252.1 million views in just 91 days. Within three weeks of its debut, the series had already crossed the 1 billion hours viewed milestone and went on to rank #1 in 90 countries.
Season 1 held the top spot on the Netflix Global Top 10 chart for six consecutive weeks, breaking records for most views in a single week not once, but twice in a row. With over 2.8 billion social media impressions, Season 2 is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Netflix titles of 2025.
Netflix has yet to release details about Season 3’s storylines or casting, but co-creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have promised a return that dives even deeper into the Addams family’s twisted legacy.
“It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe, one deadpan quip at a time,” said Gough and Millar. “We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3. This time, she’ll unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets, and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.’”
Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria praised the series’ immediate impact, stating:
“The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts and sparking cultural trends. We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire cast and crew. On the heels of its highly anticipated Season 2 return, we’re thrilled to renew the iconic series for a third and deliver more of what the fans love.”
Season 2: What’s Coming
Season 2 picks up with Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returning to Nevermore Academy for another year of cryptic chaos. She’ll face fresh enemies, complicated family ties, and a brand-new supernatural mystery that threatens to disrupt the uneasy balance between the school’s monsters and the outside world.
Directing icon Tim Burton returns as executive producer alongside Gough and Millar, with MGM Television producing.
