Virgin River Season 8 Filming Dates Revealed as Season 7 Premiere Approaches

While fans are currently counting down the days until we return to the picturesque Redwood forests for Season 7, Netflix is already looking far into the future of the series.

We finally have a clearer picture of when the cast will return to British Columbia, as the Virgin River Season 8 filming schedule has officially been released.

When Does Virgin River Season 8 Start Filming?

According to the latest production insights, Virgin River Season 8 is scheduled to film from April 22, 2026, to August 10, 2026.

While these dates are subject to slight shifts for weather or post-production needs, the 15-week production window confirms Netflix’s full commitment to Mel and Jack. Based on a standard 10-episode season, the schedule provides approximately 78 working days for the cast and crew to film in blocks. This timeline even includes a small buffer to account for Vancouver’s unpredictable weather, ensuring the wait between seasons is as short as possible without sacrificing the high quality fans expect from the series.

The Full Timeline: Looking Ahead to Season 7

For those trying to keep track of the Virgin River roadmap, news of Season 8 filming comes on the heels of the exciting confirmation of the Season 7 release date. As previously reported, Netflix has officially set March 12, 2026, as the premiere date for Season 7.

This upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes and is set to pick up immediately following the high-stakes cliffhangers of Season 6. With production on Season 8 beginning just a few weeks after Season 7 hits our screens, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the “Virgin River drought” will be shorter.

Set-Jetting: Visit the Real Virgin River

The April to August filming window for Season 8 falls during the most beautiful time of year in British Columbia. Over the years, “set-jetting” has become a massive trend for the show, with many fans and local travelers flocking to these scenic spots to experience the magic in person.

Social media is often buzzing with fan sightings during production. Locations like The Watershed Grill in Brackendale (the real-life “Jack’s Bar”) have become a pilgrimage site. Whether it’s a selfie in front of Doc’s clinic in New Westminster or a walk through the trails of Murdo Frazer Park to see Mel’s cabin, the “Virgin River effect” is very real. Fans often share real-time updates on their socials, offering a “behind-the-scenes” look at the cast and crew at work.

  1. What a wonderful show-with talented, wonderful actors. My husband and discovered the series rather late and we binge-watched the entire 7 seasons. I actually had VIRGIN RIVER withdrawal! We are so looking forward to Season Eight and hope there will be a Season Nine. We so wish we could travel to the beautiful filming location and met some (or all) of the actors. What a joy that would be for an 83 and 85 year-old couple married for 63 years. Thank all for the wonderful entertainment.
