Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice Trailer Introduces Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy Ahead of December Premiere

Netflix has released the official trailer, key art, and new images for its upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, while also confirming that the six-part limited series will premiere on December 3.

Written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn, the new series returns to Jane Austen’s story of the five Bennet sisters, with Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy once again at the center of one of literature’s most famous romances.

The new trailer gives viewers their first extended look at Netflix’s adaptation following the previously released promotional material, introducing the Bennet family and the arrival of wealthy bachelors Mr Bingley and Mr Darcy in their neighborhood.

The story begins as the five Bennet sisters face the expectations placed on young women to marry and secure their futures. Jane develops feelings for the charming Mr Bingley, while Elizabeth’s relationship with his friend Mr Darcy gets off to a much more difficult start.

Their early clashes and judgments gradually become more complicated as Elizabeth encounters Darcy again, while scandals within the Bennet family threaten the sisters’ reputations and futures.

Netflix is describing the six-episode limited series as a faithful, classic adaptation of Austen’s novel.

Dolly Alderton on Adapting Pride and Prejudice

Dolly Alderton, who wrote the adaptation and serves as an executive producer, pointed to the emotions behind Austen’s story as one reason Pride and Prejudice has remained relevant more than two centuries after its publication.

“Pride and Prejudice is such a timeless story because of the emotions in the book; they are as pertinent now as they were in 1812,” Alderton said in comments shared alongside the trailer.

She highlighted experiences that remain immediately recognizable, including embarrassment over family, the fear of being left behind, concerns about the future, and realizing that you have judged someone incorrectly or been misjudged yourself.

“We go to that book to see our hearts reflected in it,” she added.

Alderton previously created and wrote Everything I Know About Love. Euros Lyn, whose credits include Heartstopper, directs the series.
