Nobody Wants This Recap and Episode Guide

Joanne and Noah are excited to live together. At first, everything is sweet and romantic, until their everyday habits start getting in the way. Joanne doesn’t like the top sheet and wants to enjoy her morning coffee, read Page Six, and talk to Morgan without explaining everything to Noah. He keeps closing the cupboards she leaves open and rearranging the dishwasher.

Instead of asking for some time alone, Joanne tells him she needs to record an early podcast and goes to Morgan’s. Noah finds out and confronts her. She admits she misses having her mornings to herself, and he tells her she could have said so. They are still learning how to live together. Joanne also points out that his mail is everywhere.

Sasha has a new blond hairstyle and is separated from Esther, although they haven’t told his parents. While Esther works toward her real estate license, he stays in a hotel during their nesting arrangement. Morgan and Lynn invite him to stay with them and encourage him to start dating. Helping him set up a profile becomes awkward when they come across Esther’s.

He is also unhappy at work; his father still won’t let him take the lead, so Sasha tells him he is leaving.

Joanne Starts Conversion Classes, and Noah Returns to Temple Chai

Joanne begins her Introduction to Judaism course at Temple Chai, where Noah still misses working after losing out on the senior rabbi position. Rabbi Eden, played by Sarah Silverman, teaches the class. Sebastien, played by Andrew Rannells, immediately gets under Joanne’s skin by telling her it is brave to convert when she isn’t even engaged.

Their relationship gets worse when he leaves her out of the group chat and doesn’t invite her for coffee with the other students. He thinks she brings too much drama and openly questions how she could become a senior rabbi’s wife.

Noah, meanwhile, discovers that much of the congregation dislikes “Big Noah,” the rabbi who got the job. He meets with the board and explains that he believes he is meant to serve the temple. They offer him the chance to speak at the Erev Rosh Hashanah service.

Worried that the congregation might judge Noah because of her, Joanne follows Morgan’s suggestion and asks Bina for help. Bina is impressed that she comes to her and gives Joanne a makeover, complete with a low bun and tweed dress suit, to prepare her to be a rebbetzin.

Noah gives an excellent speech; the senior rabbi position is his.

Back at the podcast, Morgan struggles to record alone, so she calls Sasha and they end up recording together. They discuss the “let them” approach, but Morgan thinks it is too passive. Her version is “make them.” Ashley likes the idea enough to become her manager.

The Housewarming Brings Out Several Grievances

Joanne and Noah discover that the neighbor leaving his trash bins in front of their house is Travis, Joanne’s ex. Having first seen him while dressed like Bina, Joanne tries to run into him again looking more like herself. She wants him to admit he made a mistake losing her.

Their housewarming gives her another opportunity. Joanne plans to hang the final mezuzah during the party, but she also delivers an awkward speech about how wonderful her relationship with Noah is, including their physical connection, for Travis’s benefit.

Afterward, Travis calls her crazy and asks Noah whether he really wants to go through with the relationship. Noah tells him never to call Joanne that again. He is thankful Travis ruined things, since that is how Joanne ended up with him.

Other conversations are equally uncomfortable. Noah asks Eden why she hasn’t congratulated him on his promotion. She admits she wanted the position herself, and nobody even considered her.

Bina notices Esther’s absence and Sasha flirting with other women. When the separation comes out, Esther is called over to explain. She tells Bina she wasn’t happy, and Sasha defends her when his mother starts attacking her.

Morgan also talks to Sebastien about the “Make Them.” His aunt works in publishing, and he offers to connect them about a possible book. Joanne is already unconvinced by the idea, and finding out about the opportunity makes her jealous.

Noah’s Napa Trip Is a Proposal

Joanne worries that her career is going downhill. She is losing followers, Morgan is getting attention, and she wonders whether the podcast is better without her. She thought she was its star; now she is happy and in love, without the strange dating stories she used to bring to it, and she worries nobody wants to listen.

Morgan meets Sebastien’s outspoken aunt, Eleonor, who expects a proper 50-page proposal. She struggles to write it until Sasha suggests she stop trying to act like a writer and approach it more like herself.

Joanne considers skipping the trip to Napa for the wedding Noah is supposed to officiate, but he insists he needs her there. At the hangar, they meet Nicole, a podcast listener who is flying out to surprise a man she believes she belongs with. With no seats left, Joanne gives Nicole her ticket.

Noah is desperate enough to start trying to buy someone else’s seat. Then Nicole explains that the man is her sister’s husband.

Joanne recognizes something of her former self in Nicole. She realizes finding the right person has little to do with luck: you need to like yourself enough to believe you deserve better than chasing someone unavailable. She takes her ticket back.

When they arrive in Napa, there are no wedding guests. Noah has arranged Jonanne’s flowers and wine, and a Taylor Swift song. He proposes, and she says yes. Morgan and Sasha are there to celebrate with them.

Wedding Planning Starts, While Esther Meets Julian

Joanne and Noah imagine a small, beautiful outdoor wedding. Bina has a much larger celebration in mind. She offers her backyard, along with her wedding shawl and tiara. They turn down some of her ideas but invite her to help organize.

Esther, now a licensed real estate agent, is moving forward, too. Joanne tells her Sasha is going on a third date, assuming that means he will sleep with someone, although his date ends the evening early.

While showing a house, Esther meets Julian, a divorced father who is grounded and confident. They immediately hit it off and spend time together in the house. By the end of the evening, he kisses her.

Morgan still hasn’t finished her proposal. Instead of going to a writers’ group, she visits a tarot reader and comes home with a stolen card, which she gives Sasha. Lynn identifies it as the Two of Cups, a powerful love card, and tells Sasha she knows he has a crush on Morgan.

He doesn’t deny it. When Lynn later pushes him to admit he loves her, he insists it is a crush that will pass.

A Small Venue Creates a Big Guest-List Problem

Joanne and Noah find a venue they love, but they have less than a day to cut their guest list from 250 to 75. They decide against children, unmarried plus-ones, and relatives they haven’t seen in a year.

During an LA heatwave, Morgan and Sasha invite themselves over to use the pool. Morgan turns the visit into a party, making the wedding exclusions increasingly difficult to maintain. Ashley introduces her new girlfriend, who is excited to attend, and a relative turns up after hearing from Bina about the limited spaces.

Esther sees the party on Instagram and feels left out. Joanne reassures her that she is still part of the group. Getting to know Julian over dinner also goes better after an awkward start.

Morgan finally sends in her proposal, but at the party Sebastien tells her Eleonor has passed. Sasha comforts her, and another opportunity soon arrives: Andy Cohen invites her onto Watch What Happens Live; she asks Sasha to come to New York.

After talking through their guest list, Joanne and Noah decide against the venue. They want to invite more people than it can accommodate.

Morgan and Sasha Sleep Together in New York

In New York, Morgan and Sasha discover their suite has one bed. They are already aware of their feelings, and Sasha offers to take the couch.

Getting ready for the show brings another problem. Morgan watches an episode and realizes Lisa Rinna is wearing the jumpsuit she plans to wear. They rush out shopping, find a Valentino dress, and Sasha offers to pay. At the studio, he helps calm her nerves.

Morgan does well on the show, and they celebrate with drinks and dinner. Sasha pays again, explaining that he always pays on dates. Both try texting their siblings, but Joanne and Noah have switched their phones off for a night together.

Before Morgan and Sasha kiss, he stops. He loves having her as his best friend and worries they won’t be able to go back afterward. Morgan agrees, but once they return to the suite, they sleep together.

The next morning, Sasha wakes to find she has already taken an early flight home. Joanne and Noah turn their phones back on and see all the messages. Joanne is certain her sister slept with Sasha.

Morgan Admits Her Feelings, and Joanne Agrees to Bina’s Backyard

Morgan avoids Sasha after New York, unsure how to face him. He decides to move out of Lynn’s house.

After talking with Joanne, Morgan admits she loves him. She goes to find Sasha and explains that she left because she was scared. She wants to try being with him rather than running away. Sasha reminds her that she left him in New York and ignored him afterward. His marriage has just ended, and being with Morgan already feels difficult. He isn’t sure he can do it.

Esther and Julian, meanwhile, agree to be exclusive.

Joanne initially resists Bina’s decision that the wedding will take place in her backyard. Noah supports her, but she changes her mind when she understands that he actually wants to marry at his family home.

The mother-son dance is harder for her to accept, especially when Noah and Bina already have a song. Joanne doesn’t want a father-daughter dance, but Noah tries to arrange one anyway. She is angry that he ignores her answer, and their disagreement becomes personal.

They eventually apologize. Joanne agrees he should dance with Bina, and she confirms that Morgan and Sasha slept together.

Christmas Doesn’t Bring Morgan and Sasha Back Together

Joanne approaches Christmas as her last before converting. Flashbacks show her with Trevor during an earlier Christmas, while Noah tries to make this year special.

For Joanne, Christmas is the one time her family feels normal. She may be cynical the rest of the year, but Christmas Eve is different.

Unfortunately, Morgan claims to be sick and doesn’t plan to attend their father’s dinner. Lynn is angry that Joanne chooses Bina’s backyard over hers. She tells Noah she creates the Christmas magic and has no intention of helping this year.

Noah persuades her to come by offering her whatever wedding role she wants. Lynn has always wanted to be a flower girl, and he agrees.

Joanne arrives expecting a depressing evening and finds the house fully decorated. Morgan and Lynn are both there, and Lynn apologizes. Morgan looks especially good, and Joanne realizes she dresses up hoping Sasha will come. He does, but he wants to return to being friends. Morgan tells him she wants more. By the end of the evening, she informs Noah that she won’t attend future events if Sasha is there.

The final flashback shows Trevor dumping Joanne on Christmas Eve, despite their plans to spend it with her family. She arrives home upset, but the decorations and atmosphere Lynn creates make her feel better.

Episode 10 Recap: Morgan Refuses to Attend Joanne’s Mikvah

The wedding invitations finally go out, although Joanne and Bina are still disagreeing about almost everything. Bina wants flowers that don’t suit Joanne, butterflies released at the end of the wedding, and a 14-person band.

Morgan adds to Joanne’s stress by saying she won’t attend her mikvah if Sasha is there. Her refusal to share family events with him now threatens to keep her away from her sister’s important moments.

By the final conversion class, Joanne and Sebastien are practically friends. She tells him she is worried Morgan will miss the mikvah and possibly the wedding. He suggests borrowing from Morgan’s attempted book: make her.

Sasha is settling into his new house. Esther visits and is impressed, particularly with their daughter’s room, inspired by Olivia Rodrigo’s tour. They kiss and sleep together.

Afterward, Esther admits she isn’t sure she wants to stop seeing Julian. Sasha isn’t asking her to. He likes his life lately, and they agree to keep this between them and see what happens.

Joanne and Noah Try to Make Morgan and Sasha Talk

On the way to the mikvah, Joanne and Noah let Morgan believe Sasha won’t be attending. Then they pull up outside his house.

Joanne tells her sister she is making her fix this. Morgan and Sasha need to be able to spend time in the same room. Sasha is no happier about the plan, and Joanne and Noah’s attempt to turn the conversation into a game doesn’t help.

During the drive, Joanne also learns that Bina has canceled their DJ in favor of the band she wants.

When the car stops, Morgan tries to leave. Joanne follows, and Morgan admits she doesn’t know whether Sasha is the love of her life or someone who teaches her how she should be loved. Joanne apologizes for tricking her. She cannot imagine her sister missing the important milestones in her life.

While walking, Morgan sprains her ankle. Noah and Sasha catch up in the car, and Sasha goes to help her. She says he rejects her; he reminds her that she rejects him first. He picks her up and carries her.

Esther Finds Out About New York

The rest of the family arrives at the Malibu house Joanne and Noah rent for the mikvah in the ocean. While they start eating, Lynn says she is glad the four of them are traveling together. Morgan and Sasha need to work things out after what happened in New York.

Esther asks her to explain. Lynn doesn’t give her a clear answer, but when Sasha enters carrying Morgan, Esther asks directly, in front of everyone, whether they sleep together.

She is furious with them and with Joanne and Noah for knowing the entire time. Morgan tries to apologize, and Esther reveals that she slept with Sasha the day before.

Bina asks aloud what they did wrong to have this family come into their lives, offending Joanne and her relatives. Lynn asks why Bina always has to be such a bitch. With everyone fighting, Rabbi Eden takes Joanne and Noah down to the beach.

Why Does Joanne Choose to Convert?

Away from the argument, Joanne explains how her reasons change as she goes through the conversion process.

At first, she considers doing it for Noah. Later, she continues because of him, before reaching the point where she wants it for herself. She wants to see the world the way he does: quick to forgive and slow to judge, able to find purpose and meaning in places she might otherwise overlook.

She also thinks about their future family. Joanne wants their children to know they belong to something bigger than themselves or their immediate relatives. When they feel lost, she wants them to have these traditions to guide them. That is what she chooses for all of them.

Joanne enters the ocean alone, removes her swimsuit, and immerses herself, reciting the blessing as Noah and Eden watch from the beach.

The scene is genuinely emotional, especially considering where Joanne starts in season 1. She has enough space here to explain why she wants this, without anyone else telling her what she should do.

Inside, Lynn tries to watch, but Bina continues arguing with her, asking how many men in the family her daughters intend to corrupt.

Esther also confronts Sasha privately. She asks him plenty of times whether something is happening with Morgan, and he always says no. Now, she tells him, he can do whatever he wants.

Noah Asks Joanne to Marry Him on the Beach

Back on the beach, Joanne is now Jewish. She and Noah tell each other how much they love each other, and Eden suggests they enjoy the moment before returning to the house.

Noah asks whether she can marry them right there. They have a ring belonging to Joanne, and Eden lends Noah hers. She also has ceremonial wine and a ketubah in her car. A passerby who happens to be Jewish becomes a witness.

Joanne agrees, although she worries about the invitations already going out and all the work that goes into organizing the wedding. Noah knows it is a controversial choice. The wedding is supposed to be about them, and their plans get far away from that. He wants to marry her here, just the two of them.

Eden begins the ceremony, and the episode ends.

Nobody Wants This Ending Explained: Is the Wedding Complete?

Joanne completes her conversion before the final scene, but the episode ends before the wedding ceremony finishes. They agree to marry immediately, and Eden starts officiating.

Their decision follows the wedding disagreements throughout the season. Joanne accepts the backyard because it matters to Noah, but Bina continues replacing their choices with her own, including canceling their DJ. On the beach, Noah acknowledges how far the planning gets from what they want and asks Joanne to marry him there.

Morgan and Sasha remain unresolved. Helping her after she injures her ankle doesn’t settle their disagreement about a relationship. Sasha and Esther’s night together also comes without a commitment to reunite. Esther is still seeing Julian, and the revelation about New York brings another confrontation over Sasha’s earlier denials.
