War Season 1 Episode 2, “No More Nasty Surprises,” sends Morgan and Carla into mediation, with both legal teams convinced they can use the process to their advantage. The real danger, however, is sitting inside Taylor & Byrne. Johnny starts feeding their strategy to Cathcarts, giving Morgan’s lawyers information that could completely change the divorce case.
And just when everyone thinks Flora has been dealt with, she decides to contact Morgan herself.
Morgan Insists There Are No More Surprises
Smallwood meets Morgan in the park before mediation and asks a very important question: is there anything else his lawyers need to know?
Morgan says no. He also insists that he has no plans to see Flora again.
At Taylor & Byrne, Serena, Nicholas and Budgie are still trying to understand how Cathcarts knew enough to serve Carla first at the premiere. They do not yet know that Johnny is responsible.
Johnny arrives for his first day after spending the morning with Bella, who encourages him to make a good impression. Serena puts him to work looking into Morgan’s finances while the senior lawyers concentrate on mediation.
Flora is another concern. Taylor & Byrne wants her to sign an NDA, especially because nobody knows what she might do with the information and evidence she has.
Both sides enter mediation believing they can learn something useful about the opposition.
Morgan and Carla are coached by their respective lawyers and present themselves calmly in front of Alanda, the mediator. She encourages them to approach the negotiations sincerely and find an acceptable figure for dividing their assets.
Morgan acknowledges that his financial position has improved considerably since the prenup was signed.
Carla’s lawyers immediately see an opportunity in that admission.
Johnny Starts Feeding Cathcarts Information
Morgan leaves the first mediation session convinced that Carla knows about Flora. Smallwood wants to know how she found out, while Schill plans to get whatever information he can from Johnny.
Taylor & Byrne come away from the session feeling confident. The team begins considering how Carla’s son from her previous marriage could factor into the settlement they seek. Serena also visits Flora.
Flora is offended by the NDA and says she never intended to speak publicly in the first place. Rather than forcing the issue, Serena leaves the agreement with her and asks her to consider it, presenting it as something that can protect Flora as well.
Johnny has another meeting that nobody at his new firm knows about.
He secretly meets Schill in a hospital parking lot and reports what Taylor & Byrne is planning for the mediation. Schill gives him another assignment: find out exactly what Serena and Nicholas know about Flora.
Johnny’s position is becoming increasingly useful to Cathcarts. He has access to Taylor & Byrne’s strategy while the people around him have no idea that their newest colleague is reporting directly to the other side.

Morgan and Carla Start Negotiating Money
The second mediation session moves on to figures.
Alanda carries offers between the two sides, with Morgan’s lawyers deliberately maintaining a cooperative approach. Taylor & Byrne interprets that willingness to negotiate as an encouraging sign and continues pushing its demands higher.
Morgan becomes frustrated, but his lawyers want him to continue playing along. Back at Taylor & Byrne, Johnny uses the opportunity to search for information about Flora. He cannot find the files he needs and nearly gets caught looking around.
Then the information effectively comes to him.
Flora’s mother arrives asking to speak with Serena. Serena is unavailable, so she is turned away. Johnny hears the name Monroe and follows her, eventually catching up with her after she boards a bus.
She tells him that Flora will not sign the NDA. More importantly, she says Flora is prepared to go to the press unless she receives £20,000.
Johnny now has exactly the kind of information Cathcarts sent him to find.
Why Does Morgan’s Team Suddenly Stop Negotiating?
Johnny immediately passes the information to Schill. Cathcarts had been preparing to send its biggest offer yet through Alanda, but the news about Flora changes the calculation. Schill stops the mediator before she can deliver it and abruptly ends their negotiations for the day.
Smallwood, Beatrice and Schill now understand more of Carla’s plan. Flora was used as a honey trap; she has not signed an NDA, and her mother is asking for money.
They also recognize the risk for Taylor & Byrne. If Carla’s side pays Flora after arranging the encounter with Morgan, Cathcarts believes it could make the situation look considerably worse.
Beatrice urges caution rather than rushing into their next move. Across town, Taylor & Byrne cannot understand why Morgan’s side suddenly pulled back.
Johnny arrives with an explanation of his own, telling Serena and Carla about Flora’s mother and the demand for money. He then persuades them that he should be the person to deal with Flora directly; they all agree.
Even worse for them, they decide that the Flora situation should remain among a very small group of people, never realizing that one of those people is secretly working for Morgan’s lawyers.

Johnny Finds a Way to Pay Flora
Johnny meets Flora and her mother before the final mediation session.
Flora is angry when she learns that her mother demanded money behind her back. She says she does not want to be paid and understood what she was doing when she agreed to Carla’s plan.
Johnny also warns her against expecting anything more from Morgan. The conversation eventually produces a different arrangement. Flora and her mother have a problem with their roof, providing a way for money to be spent on their behalf without a payment being directly connected to Carla or Taylor & Byrne.
With the arrangement in place, Johnny contacts Serena and tells her it worked.
Then he sends a recording of that conversation to Schill.
Taylor & Byrne believes Johnny has just solved its Flora problem. Cathcarts now has evidence of what he arranged.
Both legal teams consequently enter the final stage of mediation believing arbitration will put them in a stronger position.
Alanda gives Morgan and Carla one last private opportunity to reach an agreement. Neither takes it. They express disappointment that mediation has failed while agreeing to move toward arbitration.
The divorce is now heading into a much more aggressive phase.

War Episode 2 Ending Explained: Why Does Flora Text Morgan?
For all the work both legal teams put into controlling the Flora situation, the episode ends by reminding us that Flora can still make her own decisions.
She texts Morgan directly and asks to meet him.
The episode does not reveal why Flora wants to see Morgan, so there is no confirmation that she wants money, a relationship, revenge, or anything else. Her reason for contacting him remains unknown to the viewer.
What is clear is how dangerous the message could be for everyone involved.
Morgan has just assured Smallwood that there will be no more surprises and that he does not intend to see Flora again. Taylor & Byrne believe Johnny has handled Flora and secured her cooperation. Cathcarts believes Johnny has given them valuable evidence about the attempt to resolve the situation.
None of those plans take into consideration Flora contacting Morgan herself.
