Netflix has released the official trailer, key art and new photos for The Diplomat season 4, giving us our best look yet at the political and personal mess waiting for Kate Wyler when the series returns.
And there isn’t much time left to wait. All eight episodes of The Diplomat season 4 premiere on Netflix on October 15, 2026.
The Diplomat season 4 puts Kate and Hal on opposite sides
Season 4 picks up with the fragile peace Kate brokered between the United States and the United Kingdom falling apart after a catastrophic event.
That’s only one of the problems she has to deal with. Her already troubled marriage to Hal is under even more pressure, while President Grace Penn and now-Vice President Hal are involved in a conspiracy surrounding Russia’s most powerful weapon. Their actions could push the United States toward war.
Kate finds an unlikely partner in Todd Penn. Despite the tension between them, the two join forces as they try to stop Grace and Hal before their alliance causes even more damage at home and abroad.
That puts the two central marriages in a particularly interesting position this season. Kate and Hal are already struggling to keep theirs together, while Grace and Todd have problems of their own.
The new season brings back Keri Russell as Ambassador Kate Wyler and Rufus Sewell as Vice President Hal Wyler, alongside Allison Janney as President Grace Penn and Bradley Whitford as Todd Penn.
Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah and Rory Kinnear also return.
