Netflix has added four actors to the cast of This Summer Will Be Different, its adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling romance novel. Malin Akerman, Megan Follows, Nadine Bhabha and Matias Lucas have joined the series, which has wrapped the Prince Edward Island portion of filming and is now shooting in Toronto.
Akerman, who recently starred as Margo Banks in Netflix’s The Hunting Wives, will play Aunt Stacy. Follows has been cast as Cheryl, Bhabha as Farah and Lucas as Carter.

The new casting announcement comes as production reaches another stage. Filming on Prince Edward Island has now wrapped, with the series continuing production in Toronto.
The setting is an important part of Carley Fortune’s story. This Summer Will Be Different follows Lucy across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island as she moves through her 20s and falls in love with her best friend’s brother, the one person she wasn’t supposed to fall for.

Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart serve as creators and showrunners. Clark and Stewart also executive produce alongside Fortune, Jennifer Kawaja, Elise Cousineau and Samantha Levine for Sphere Media.
Sphere Media is producing the series.
Akerman’s recent credits include The Hunting Wives and Billions. Follows is also well known for playing Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables, while Bhabha’s credits include Heated Rivalry and Slo Pitch. Lucas previously appeared in The Order.
