Netflix has released the official trailer for East of Eden, its new adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel, ahead of the limited series’ October 1, 2026 premiere.
Florence Pugh stars as Cathy Ames and also serves as an executive producer on the seven-episode series, which spans generations of the Trask family. Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist are among the ensemble cast.

Netflix describes the series as a modern interpretation of East of Eden that explores the multigenerational story of the Trask family while placing renewed focus on Cathy, one of the novel’s central characters.
The limited series premieres globally on Netflix on October 1.
Florence Pugh Leads the East of Eden Cast
Pugh leads East of Eden as Cathy Ames, with the cast also including Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Ciarán Hinds, Martha Plimpton, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders.
The series was adapted by Zoe Kazan, who serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Jeb Stuart joins her as co-showrunner and executive producer.
Behind the camera, Garth Davis directs Episodes 1 through 4 and serves as an executive producer, while Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre directs Episodes 5 through 7.
Antoine Douaihy, Zack Hayden, Steve Golin, David Levine, and Jill Arthur also executive produce alongside Pugh, Kazan, Stuart, and Davis. FIFTH SEASON and Anonymous Content are the co-studios behind the series.
