Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 4, “Greyhounds’ Day Off,” turns its attention to a problem Ted can’t fix on the training pitch. Richmond’s women’s team may be playing together, but off the field, they’re still divided into separate groups.
Ted’s solution involves a night away from football, a pub quiz and some carefully chosen teams. It doesn’t go remotely according to plan, but somehow, that ends up working in his favor.
Elsewhere, Roy decides he wants another chance with Keeley. Her answer sends him on a very different mission.
Ted Realizes Richmond Has a Clique Problem
The divisions within the women’s team have become difficult to ignore. There’s fighting inside the locker room, and Ted and Beard face the added complication that they can’t simply walk in when something goes wrong.
At first, Ted hopes the players will sort things out themselves. That becomes less likely when the same divisions carry over onto the training pitch.
The episode also brings Trent Crimm and Dr. Sharon back into the picture, with their conversation on Trent’s podcast reinforcing just how damaging cliques can become within a team. Ted has spent enough time trying to build Richmond into something more unified to know he can’t simply leave this one alone.
An answer arrives during a trip to the pub with Beard and Coach Chilton. Mae is bringing back trivia night, and Ted sees an opportunity.
After another locker-room fight, he cancels the following day’s practice. Instead, everyone is going to the pub. There is one condition: the players don’t get to choose who they sit with.
Rebecca has a decision of her own to make. She meets with Zelda, an eccentric businesswoman who is interested in getting involved with Richmond’s women’s team. Keeley is immediately impressed by her, but Rebecca is much more cautious. She isn’t convinced that going into business with Zelda is a good idea and has doubts about accepting her offer, no matter how enthusiastic Keeley is about the possibility.
Ted’s Trivia Night Takes an Unexpected Turn
Ted splits Richmond into different trivia teams, deliberately separating the existing groups and forcing players who don’t normally spend time together to work alongside one another.
Beard, meanwhile, is thrilled to have Ted and Chilton on his team and quickly proves useful. His night takes a turn when he spots a poster featuring his ex-girlfriend in the bathroom. The sight leaves him practically unable to function, taking one of the strongest trivia players out of contention.
That opens the door for one of the teams made up of Richmond players to do particularly well.
Winning the quiz, however, creates a completely different problem. A group of rowdy fans accuses the players of cheating. The argument escalates, and soon the women who had spent so much of the episode fighting among themselves are fighting together instead.
The result is a trip to jail for the team, along with Ted, Beard, and Chilton.
It isn’t exactly the bonding exercise Ted planned, but it does the job. Sitting together after the fight, the old divisions have disappeared. Richmond finally looks like one team rather than several smaller groups sharing the same locker room. This union arrives at the perfect moment because Chelsea is next game, the best team in the country.
There is one more surprise waiting for them. Everyone expects Rebecca to get them out of jail, but Zelda shows up instead and pays their bail. The woman Rebecca wasn’t sure she wanted to do business with has suddenly inserted herself much more directly into Richmond’s night.
Roy Wants Another Chance With Keeley
Away from Richmond’s team-building problems, Roy finally addresses the question that has been hanging over him and Keeley.
He wants to know whether they should get back together. Higgins has the misfortune of finding himself caught in the middle of the conversation as Roy and Keeley discuss whether another relationship between them could actually work.
Keeley isn’t ready to say yes. Instead, she points out that Roy hasn’t really dated enough since their breakup. Before she considers getting back together with him, she wants him to go on ten dates.
Roy, naturally, treats that number like a target. He starts racing through dates, sometimes arranging several in the same evening. The problem is that he’s approaching the whole thing as something he needs to complete instead of actually giving anyone a chance. Then his knee gets involved.
Roy Meets Someone He Actually Likes
After trying to hook up with the bartender where Roy is having all his dates, Roy’s troublesome knee gives out and lands him in the hospital, where he meets a doctor played by Sophia Barclay. The encounter is different from the dates he has been rushing through.
She doesn’t simply go along with Roy’s usual attitude, and the two quickly find a rhythm together. For the first time since Keeley gave him his assignment, Roy appears genuinely interested in the person in front of him instead of counting the dates he has left. Before leaving, he asks for her number.
Roy started this whole date exercise to get back to Keeley, but episode 4 ends with the possibility that following her advice could take him somewhere else entirely.

Trivia night was supposed to force Richmond’s players to spend time outside their usual groups. Instead, the confrontation at the pub gives them something much more immediate to rally around. When the other patrons accuse the players of cheating and the situation turns into a fight, the women stop acting like separate groups, and they back each other up.
The tension between the different cliques has faded, leaving the lady Greyhounds more united as they prepare for Chelsea.
