Netflix has officially renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3 before the second season has even premiered. Guy Ritchie will once again direct the series, while The Gentlemen Season 2 arrives September 3, 2026.
The early Season 3 renewal was announced Monday alongside the release of the main trailer for Season 2. Netflix has not yet announced a release date, production schedule, or cast for the third season.
The Gentlemen Season 3 Is Officially Confirmed
Netflix confirmed The Gentlemen Season 3 on August 24, giving the series another season nine days before Season 2 makes its debut. Ritchie will return as director as well as creator, writer, and executive producer.
Ritchie said in a statement:
“The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”
For now, that is where Netflix’s Season 3 announcement stops. The streamer has not confirmed when production will begin or revealed who will appear in the new season.
That also means there is no official word yet on whether the entire current cast will continue beyond Season 2.
What Happened With the Meghan Markle Season 3 Reports?
The confirmation comes after The Gentlemen Season 3 unexpectedly became the subject of casting reports last week involving Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan was reported to have been in preliminary discussions for a possible role in the third season. The potential casting was never announced by Netflix, and neither a character nor a finalized deal was confirmed.
Then, on August 22, journalist and former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown reported on her Substack that the prospective casting had been withdrawn. Brown said she had learned that morning that Meghan’s casting in Season 3 was no longer moving forward and attributed the decision to the level of backlash in the UK. There is now conflicting reporting about where things actually stand.
While Brown reported that the role had been withdrawn, subsequent reports have claimed Meghan remains in discussions for The Gentlemen. Netflix has not announced her as part of Season 3, nor has it publicly confirmed that she was previously cast and subsequently removed.
For now, the only confirmed Season 3 news from Netflix is the renewal itself and Ritchie’s return.
The Gentlemen Season 2 Arrives September 3
Before Season 3, there is still an entire second season to come.
Netflix also released the main trailer for The Gentlemen Season 2 on August 24. All eight episodes will arrive September 3.
Theo James returns as Eddie Horniman alongside Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, with Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley and Giancarlo Esposito also reprising their roles.
Season 2 expands the story beyond England, with the new episodes moving between the country’s estates and the Italian lakes.
The returning cast will be joined by previously announced additions Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi and Tyler Conti, along with professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr and Maya Jama.
Netflix’s official description of the new season makes clear that Eddie is no longer simply trying to survive the criminal world he inherited. Season 2 follows him as he attempts to expand his criminal empire and tests his relationship with Bobby Glass, with lead writer and executive producer Matthew Read identifying that expansion as one of the central ideas behind the season.
And unlike viewers going into Season 1 or even Season 2, we now know Eddie’s world is already guaranteed to continue beyond these eight episodes.
