Steven Yeun has found his next Netflix series. The BEEF star will lead and executive produce Pagans, an upcoming series created by Joshua Zetumer.
Yeun will play Gus, a single father raising his two children after his wife’s death. Netflix has not announced a release date or additional cast members yet.
Steven Yeun Will Play Gus in Pagans
Netflix describes Pagans as a story that mixes family drama, horror, and humor.
Following his wife’s death, Gus becomes the sole caretaker of his two children. His son appears to be a typical kid. His daughter Alice is another matter entirely.
Gus and Alice already have a strained relationship, but whatever is happening between them doesn’t stay within the usual boundaries of a difficult father-daughter relationship. According to Netflix’s official logline, things soon become “far more sinister.”
Exactly what that means is being kept quiet for now, including what makes Alice so different and where the horror side of the story comes in.
Who Is Behind Netflix’s Pagans?
Joshua Zetumer will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg will executive produce through Goddard Textiles, with Jonathan van Tulleken and Erica Kay also executive producing. Yeun and Christina Oh are executive producers through Celadon Pictures.
For Yeun, Pagans also marks another major project with Netflix following BEEF, in which he starred opposite Ali Wong and served as an executive producer.
His performance as Danny Cho earned him an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Critics’ Choice Award, and a SAG Award. Yeun was also previously nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Jacob in Minari, which he executive produced.
Before Pagans arrives, Yeun will also appear in Netflix’s Animals, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, alongside Kerry Washington.
Netflix has not announced when Pagans will begin production or when the series will premiere.
