Sterling Point is officially coming back for Season 2. Prime Video announced the renewal on August 20, just over two weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered on August 5.
The second season will once again premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. A release date has not been announced.
The quick renewal follows a strong start for the series. According to Prime Video, Sterling Point became its No. 1 global debut this summer and quickly ranked among the platform’s top series.
Sterling Point Season 2 Will Take Us Back to Muskoka
Created by Megan Park, Sterling Point follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, who grew up in New York City with her twin brother and adoptive father before unexpectedly inheriting her grandfather’s island in Canada.
Her arrival in Muskoka opens up a very different life, complete with new friendships, romance, and questions about her own family.
Park, who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer, confirmed in Prime Video’s renewal announcement that the team is ready to continue those stories.
“It’s been an absolute joy to see the appreciation and love for the show,” Park said. “We worked so hard to make the show as authentic as possible and to see audiences respond to that has been thrilling. We cannot wait to dive deeper into these characters and deliver the best second season ever!”
Co-showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with executive producers Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin, also confirmed that the series will return to Muskoka, specifically mentioning Annie and Ramona as among the characters whose stories will continue.
That is particularly welcome after a first season that leaves plenty unresolved for Annie, Ramona and the rest of the group.
Who Could Return for Sterling Point Season 2?
Prime Video has not announced an official Season 2 cast yet.
Season 1 was led by Ella Rubin as Annie and Amélie Hoeferle as Ramona, alongside Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie as Ellis, Daniel Quinn-Toye as Rory, Bo Bragason as Oona and Keen Ruffalo as Connor.
The first-season cast also included Jay Duplass as Steven, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe, Nikko Angelo Hinayo as Sully, Mabel Strachan as Maple, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers and Missi Pyle as Denise Ballatine.
With the renewal announcement specifically referring to returning to the stories of Annie, Ramona and “the rest of the crew,” there is clearly more planned for the characters introduced in Season 1. For now, though, we’ll have to wait for Prime Video to confirm exactly who will be back.
Megan Park Will Continue With the Series
Megan Park created, directed, and executive produced the first season while serving as co-showrunner.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage served as co-showrunners and executive producers for Fake Empire, with Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin executive producing for LuckyChap. Amazon MGM Studios, Fake Empire, and LuckyChap produce the series.
The renewal comes while the first season is still very new. As of August 20, Prime Video says Sterling Point holds a 90% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and is Certified Fresh.
There is no word yet on when production on Season 2 will begin or when the new episodes will arrive on Prime Video. For now, the important part is settled: Annie’s story isn’t ending after one summer in Muskoka.
