Episode 1 “But I Just Took an Ambien”
The premiere of Sterling Point wastes no time turning Annie Jacobson’s carefully planned future upside down. Within a single day, she loses an opportunity she had counted on, learns about an unexpected inheritance, and follows a cryptic letter that sends her from New York to a remote Canadian island filled with people who seem to know far more about her family than she does.
Annie starts her morning the way she always does, following a strict routine while anxiously waiting for news from the Wharton summer program. The acceptance email finally arrives, but it’s not the answer she hoped for. Missing out on the program leaves her feeling like everything she had planned before her senior year is slipping away.
Things only get worse from there. Her longtime boyfriend Oliver, who has been figuring out his own future, effectively ends their relationship. At the same time, Annie and her twin brother Connor are dealing with the death of their grandfather Gordon, a man they never knew after losing contact with him following their mother’s death years earlier.
When the family meets with Gordon’s lawyer, they discover he left them much more than they expected. Annie and Connor are beneficiaries of a trust they will receive once they turn eighteen, but the biggest surprise is Sterling Point itself, the island Gordon owned in Muskoka.
Before Annie and Connor can read the personal letters Gordon left behind, their father Steven quietly takes them away. His reaction immediately raises questions, especially since he refuses to explain why Gordon wanted to contact them.
Curiosity gets the better of Annie the following morning. While her father is distracted, she breaks into his office, opens the safe using his birthday as the combination, and retrieves not only Gordon’s final letters but also years’ worth of birthday cards that had never reached her or Connor.
Gordon’s message offers more questions than answers. He apologizes for “going along with the plan,” hints that Annie will uncover the truth at Sterling Point, and tells her to “find her” because she’ll need Annie now that he’s gone.
Connor isn’t convinced the letter means much. Since he and Annie were adopted, he doesn’t believe Gordon’s mystery has anything to do with them. Annie disagrees. Without telling her father the truth, she leaves behind a note claiming she’s traveling with Oliver to Thailand before setting off for Canada on her own.
Her trip gets off to an awkward start after she takes a sleeping pill for what turns out to be an extremely short flight. Still groggy, she boards a seaplane for the final stretch to Muskoka, where she meets Ellis, the young pilot flying her to the island. Annie isn’t thrilled about getting on such a small plane, but Ellis quickly puts her at ease, and the two fall into an easy conversation before they even reach Sterling Point.
Once she arrives, Annie keeps her identity to herself. Rather than admitting she inherited the island, she lets everyone believe she’s simply renting Gordon’s old cottage.
Inside, she finds photographs of her mother covering the walls, making it clear that this place was once an important part of her family’s life. The peaceful atmosphere doesn’t last long after a squirrel startles her while she’s exploring the cabin.
Trying to get a phone signal and figure out how to reach town, Annie eventually makes her way to the local marina. There she meets Joe, who seems surprised by her questions about Gordon and his family. Annie hopes to rent a boat, but she doesn’t have the required license. Oona offers to teach her instead, although Annie proves to be anything but a natural behind the wheel. Their lesson mostly consists of the boat circling in place while Oona patiently tries to coach her through it.
Back in town, Oona introduces Annie to more of the locals, including Sully, while Ellis quietly wonders why Gordon’s cottage suddenly has a new occupant. When he asks Joe whether Gordon sold the island, the question unsettles him enough that he calls Gordon’s lawyer for answers.
The lawyer confirms that Gordon’s grandchildren now know about Sterling Point. Before ending the call, she asks Joe if he has spoken to “her” yet, adding another layer to the mystery Gordon left behind.
As Annie spends more time with Oona, she learns about life around Sterling Point, from wealthy seasonal residents buying expensive cottages to the close-knit community that calls the island home. Ellis later explains why the possible sale of the island has everyone paying attention. Selling the property could make Annie incredibly wealthy, but it would also change the future of Sterling Point itself.
That evening, Annie joins Ellis and Oona at a party hosted in one of the area’s larger lakeside homes. The night takes an unexpected turn when she runs into Rory, someone she knew years ago in middle school. Their reunion is awkward enough before Rory’s friend Lincoln makes things even more uncomfortable.
Annie’s attention quickly shifts when she realizes Rory’s mother Denise knew her own mother. Hoping to finally uncover some answers, Annie asks about the past. Denise doesn’t reveal much, but one detail catches Annie completely off guard. Before Annie and Connor were born, her parents had visited Sterling Point together, and her mother had even filed for divorce, something Annie had never been told.
Shaken by the revelation, Annie leaves the party early. Ellis walks her back to the cottage, ending the evening on a comforting note after an emotionally exhausting day.
But the premiere saves its biggest surprise for the final moments.
As Annie steps inside the dark cottage, she realizes she isn’t alone. Before she can even settle in, a young woman emerges from the shadows and demands to know why Annie is in her grandfather’s cottage, revealing that someone else has a connection to Gordon and the island that Annie never expected.
Episode 2 “She’s Giving Single & Bi”
Episode 2 picks up immediately after the premiere’s final scene, wasting no time answering the question of who was waiting inside Gordon’s cottage. Instead of providing clarity, the episode introduces another family secret that leaves Annie with even more questions about her mother’s past.
The girl Annie finds inside the cottage introduces herself with caution. Thinking quickly, Annie claims she accidentally rented the wrong place through Airbnb and apologizes for the misunderstanding. Ramona accepts the explanation and tells her she needs to leave, but before Annie goes, she notices the photographs decorating the cottage.
When Annie asks about the woman in the pictures, Ramona casually explains that it’s her mother.
The answer stops Annie in her tracks.
Trying to hold herself together, she steps outside, where Ramona soon notices her crying. Feeling guilty for throwing her out so late at night, Ramona offers to let Annie sleep on the couch until morning. During their conversation, Annie asks if Ramona’s mother will be coming home, only to learn that she passed away as well. Whatever mystery Gordon hinted at in his letter, it wasn’t that Annie’s mother was secretly alive.
That night, Annie desperately tries to reach Connor, firing off a series of text messages that never go through because of the poor reception. Meanwhile, Ramona quietly hides an unopened orange envelope identical to the one Gordon left for Annie and Connor, making it clear she has received a letter of her own but hasn’t read it yet.
Unable to sleep, Annie wanders through the cottage and secretly takes one of the framed photographs of her mother before finally turning in for the night.
Morning arrives with little warmth between the two. Ramona makes sure Annie is awake by knocking the couch over, sending her onto the floor before reminding her to be gone by the time she gets back.
With nowhere to go, Annie heads toward the marina. Left on her own, she decides to borrow a canoe, but the outing ends almost as soon as it begins. A passing boat creates enough wake to throw her off balance. She loses her paddle and flips into the water.
Rory happens to spot her while riding his jet ski and pulls her out before taking her back to his house so she can dry off.
While Annie recovers, Ramona returns to work at the marina, where she’s welcomed back by Ellis, Oona, Maple and Sully. It’s obvious she’s an important part of the group, and everyone is happy to have her home again. Joe also checks in on her, offering support if she needs anything, though Ramona brushes off the concern.
Back in New York, Connor finally answers Annie’s call while relaxing in the bathtub. Their conversation quickly becomes another shock for both of them. Connor tells Annie that Oliver has officially come out on social media, while Annie reveals something even harder to believe.
She thinks they have a sister.
Neither of them can make sense of it. Since they were adopted and their father is sterile, Annie struggles to understand how their mother could have another biological daughter their own age.
Later, while everyone else enjoys the lake, Ramona catches up with Ellis and learns that he, Oona and the others have already spent time with Annie. The more they tell her, the more suspicious she becomes. Worried Annie is hiding something, Ramona rushes back to Gordon’s cottage to make sure she really left.
The cabin is empty, but Ramona immediately notices one thing missing.

Meanwhile, Annie returns to Rory’s house, hoping Denise can fill in more pieces of the puzzle. Denise remembers Annie’s parents visiting Sterling Point together years ago and reveals something Annie had never heard before. Her parents spent a summer there before Annie and Connor were born, but only Steven returned home. Annie’s mother stayed behind.
The information overwhelms Annie, who begins to panic as the story she believed about her family continues falling apart. Rory notices she’s struggling and takes her outside to the dock, where Annie admits she no longer knows what’s true about her own life.
Elsewhere, Oona’s shift helping with the party’s catering ends badly after she gets distracted, costing her the job. Once she reconnects with Ramona and Ellis, she mentions seeing Annie at Rory’s house.
Ramona immediately heads there, determined to confront her about the missing photograph.
She races to the dock and starts demanding answers, accusing Annie of stealing from her. Annie finally loses her patience and blurts out the truth in front of everyone.
Ramona’s mother was Annie’s mother too.
The confession silences the entire group.
Without another word, Ramona orders Annie into the boat and speeds back to the cottage, where she demands a full explanation. Annie tells her everything, including Gordon’s letter, the inheritance and the discovery that brought her to Sterling Point in the first place.
The revelation is just as shocking for Ramona. She had no idea Annie and Connor existed. Even so, she refuses to accept Annie’s conclusion. Since Annie was adopted, Ramona insists they aren’t really sisters and tells her to leave Sterling Point and return to New York.
Feeling more lost than ever, Annie later sits alone in town until Ellis finds her. Hoping to answer at least one question, she asks who Ramona’s father is. Ellis admits no one really knows, only that he was believed to be a tourist who passed through years ago.
Instead of convincing Annie to give up, the conversation strengthens her resolve. She decides she isn’t leaving until she uncovers the truth about her family.
Back at the cottage, Oona encourages Ramona to finally open Gordon’s letter. Unable to do it herself, Ramona asks Oona to read it aloud. The contents confirm one important thing.
Annie has been telling the truth.
By the end of the episode, Ramona meets Annie halfway down the dock and quietly invites her back to the cottage, marking the first small step toward understanding the family history that neither of them knew existed.
Episode 3 “My Lifelong Debilitating Wolf Phobia”
Episode 3 begins with Annie and Ramona trying to figure out what being sisters actually means. The tension from their explosive confrontation has eased, but they’re still strangers learning how to share the same space while sorting through years of family secrets.
The morning after Annie moves back into the cottage, Ramona is already outside repairing parts of the property. She’s determined to make the place her own and plans to stay there year-round after winterizing it. As part of that process, she starts clearing out furniture and belongings that remind her of Gordon.
She asks Annie to take a box of old items to the thrift store.
Before getting rid of it, Annie looks through the contents and discovers that many of the belongings belonged to their mother, Goldie. Among them is an old mixtape she recorded as a teenager, something Annie immediately decides to keep.
Instead of donating the box, Annie asks Ellis to help her hide it until she can sort through everything. Her real destination is the thrift store, where she’s hoping to find a cassette player so she can finally listen to the tape.
While she’s there, Annie also buys a pair of sunglasses for Ellis and finds a comfortable chair she thinks Ramona might like. Wanting to improve the atmosphere between them, she starts planning a small gathering at the cottage.
Getting the chair onto Ellis’ boat proves harder than expected until Rory suddenly appears and lends a hand. His easy confidence immediately changes the mood. Annie invites him to the gathering, and after Rory compliments Ellis’ new sunglasses, Ellis quietly slips them into his pocket instead of wearing them.
Although he says nothing, it’s obvious Rory’s arrival has made him feel like he’s already losing ground.
Elsewhere, Ramona stops by the Little Gem market to see Sully. While she’s there, she notices Oona flirting with another girl and can’t hide how much it bothers her. Even if she hasn’t admitted her feelings out loud, her reaction makes them impossible to ignore.
Back at the cottage, Annie gives Ramona the chair she bought. Ramona accepts it, signaling that she’s willing to keep trying despite everything that’s happened between them.
Later, the sisters finally listen to Goldie’s mixtape together.
After the music finishes, an unexpected recording begins. Goldie’s voice fills the room, and both sisters freeze as they realize they’re listening to something their mother recorded years before either of them knew her.
The recording quickly becomes too much for Ramona, especially after Gordon’s voice can also be heard in the background. Unable to handle the emotions it brings back, she shuts off the tape and walks out.
Annie keeps listening.
The recording reveals the mixtape wasn’t made for a random friend.
It was made for Joe.
The discovery sends Annie straight to the marina looking for answers.
Joe admits he and Goldie dated briefly while they were in high school, long before life pulled them in different directions. When Annie asks what her mother was like back then, Joe remembers someone who loved early mornings on the lake, canoe trips and cliff jumping before anyone else was awake.
He also asks if he can borrow the mixtape, clearly affected by hearing that it still exists.
When Ellis arrives, Annie tells him about his father’s relationship with Goldie. The revelation surprises him, but it doesn’t change the way he feels about Annie.
While Annie follows another clue about her mother’s past, Ramona spends the night with Oona. Sharing a bed only makes her feelings stronger, though she’s still too nervous to say anything directly.
The next morning, Annie apologizes for upsetting Ramona with the mixtape. Ramona insists she isn’t angry with her anymore, opening the door for one of their first genuine conversations as sisters.
They begin talking about Goldie, memories, and relationships instead of arguments.
When Ramona casually mentions spending the night with Oona, Annie teases her about having a crush. Rather than taking offense, Ramona plays along, giving the two a chance to enjoy a surprisingly normal sisterly moment.
Back in New York, Annie’s disappearance finally catches up with her family.
Steven contacts Oliver, believing Annie is traveling with him, only to discover Oliver has no idea where she actually is. Connor eventually tells his father everything, from Gordon’s inheritance and Sterling Point to the discovery that Annie believes they have a secret sister.
Steven is stunned by what he hears and immediately wants to travel to Canada himself. Connor convinces him to let him go instead, arguing Annie will be far more willing to talk to her brother than to their father.
At Sterling Point, Annie gets ready for the small gathering she planned, choosing to wear a purple dress that once belonged to Goldie.
Ramona has no interest in joining and retreats upstairs while Sully arrives carrying food and Rory shows up with wine and a candle, exactly as expected. Their arrival leaves Annie with little choice but to go through with the evening.
Sully eventually persuades Ramona to come downstairs by mentioning that Oona is on her way.
She does arrive, but not alone.
Seeing Oona with Stacy immediately crushes Ramona’s hopes.
Earlier that evening, Ellis had been carefully repairing one of Goldie’s old lamps before bringing it to the cottage. Joe warns his son not to get too attached to Annie since she’ll eventually leave Sterling Point, but Ellis ignores the advice and delivers the repaired lamp anyway.
Outside, Oona finds Ramona smoking alone. Their conversation turns toward Stacy, and Oona jokingly suggests Ramona sounds jealous. The joke quickly becomes something more serious as both girls realize there’s truth behind it.
They almost kiss.
Before either of them can act, Stacy interrupts the moment.
At almost the same time, Ellis arrives at the cottage and catches Annie kissing Rory on the patio. Without saying anything, he quietly leaves the repaired lamp behind before walking away.
After the guests are gone, Annie and Ramona sit together in Ramona’s room and talk about everything that happened that night. Annie tells her about kissing Rory, while Ramona admits how close she came to kissing Oona.
For the first time, the conversation feels completely natural.
As another sign that she’s beginning to accept Annie as family, Ramona asks if she’ll move into the second bed in her room instead of sleeping elsewhere in the cottage.
The sisters barely have time to enjoy the moment before someone unexpected bursts through the door.
Connor has arrived at Sterling Point, immediately launching into excited plans to sell the island and turn it into a business opportunity. His arrival promises to shake up the fragile balance Annie and Ramona have only just started to build.
Episode 4 “Take Me to the Cliffs”
Episode 4 shifts the focus from discovering long-buried family secrets to deciding what the future of Sterling Point should look like. Connor arrives determined to cash in on the island, while Annie and Ramona grow closer as sisters and find themselves dealing with increasingly complicated romantic feelings.
Connor wastes no time explaining why he believes selling Sterling Point is the obvious choice. Since he, Annie and Ramona each own an equal share of the island, all three would have to agree before any sale could happen. Annie and Ramona immediately refuse, putting an end to Connor’s dreams of a massive payday.
Rather than continuing to argue, Annie makes him a deal.
She asks Connor to spend one week experiencing life at Sterling Point before making a final decision. If he still wants to sell after that, they’ll revisit the conversation. Connor reluctantly agrees, though he’s far more interested in the money than the island itself.
His first request is simple. He wants to see the famous cliffs.
Meanwhile, Ellis receives an unexpected phone call from Gordon’s lawyer, who is trying to reach Joe and also asks for Ramona’s contact information. The conversation leaves Ellis wondering why his father is connected to Gordon’s legal affairs in the first place.
Later, Ellis meets Oona and Maple at the Little Gem, where they tease him for repairing Goldie’s lamp for Annie instead of simply asking her out. After seeing Annie kiss Rory at the party, Ellis has clearly lost some confidence.
When Annie, Connor and Ramona join them, Ellis asks about the lawyer’s phone call. Ramona explains that she, Annie and Connor now jointly own Sterling Point and reassures him they have no intention of selling it.
Connor soon reconnects with Rory and Lincoln, who offer to drive everyone to the cliffs. Ellis chooses not to go.
Before Annie leaves, Ellis gathers enough courage to invite her to the town’s movie night. In his mind it’s clearly meant to be a date, but Annie unknowingly treats it as a group outing, leaving Ellis disappointed without realizing why.
At the cliffs, most of the group dives into the lake without hesitation.
Annie isn’t nearly as brave.
Rather than pressure her into jumping, Rory leads her away to a quieter spot where they can spend time alone.
Elsewhere, Ramona helps Oona retie her bikini top, and once again the chemistry between them becomes impossible to ignore.
Back in town, Ellis repairs Denise’s boat. When she accidentally pays him more than she owes, he keeps the extra money instead of correcting the mistake. Denise notices, saying nothing but clearly filing the moment away.
While Annie and Rory continue talking in a private sauna before moving to a hot tub, the conversation turns more personal. Rory opens up about leaving his piano career behind, and the emotional honesty between them eventually leads to another kiss.
At the same time, Oona invites Ramona to movie night. Ramona immediately believes it’s a date.
Later, Annie and Ramona spend time talking like sisters rather than strangers. Annie admits she once believed she might be asexual before her feelings recently became more complicated. The conversation naturally shifts toward dating, relationships, and crushes, giving them one of their easiest and funniest moments together since meeting.
Not everyone is enjoying the growing romance around them.
After Rory discovers Ellis has been quietly overcharging his mother for boat repairs, he becomes even more determined to pursue Annie himself.
Before movie night begins, Maple also offers Oona a warning. If she’s serious about Ramona, she can’t treat her like every other girl she flirts with. The advice seems to unsettle Oona.
When everyone arrives, Ramona quickly realizes something is wrong.
Instead of spending time with her, Oona sticks close to Stacy Mallory, leaving Ramona confused and hurt. Sully encourages Ellis to stop hiding his feelings and tell Annie how he really feels, while Connor jokingly pressures Ramona to make a move before someone else does. Already anxious, Ramona starts drinking from Connor’s flask.
As the evening continues, Annie notices how much Ramona has been drinking and worries about her, though she also finds it strange how quickly Connor and Ramona have bonded.
Annie eventually joins Ellis to have a portrait drawn together. The quiet setting gives them a chance to simply enjoy each other’s company. Between constant laughter and awkward pauses, Ellis admits he likes being around her. Annie smiles and tells him she feels the same.
Their almost-date doesn’t last long.
Rory and Lincoln interrupt them, immediately changing the mood. Lincoln makes things even worse by holding out his credit card and casually asking Ellis to buy them food, treating him more like hired help than a friend.
Ellis walks away, and Annie follows after him.
The pair soon catch up with Connor and Ramona, only to find Ramona heavily intoxicated while Connor continues playing carnival games. Together they help get her away from the festivities and head back toward the marina.
Joe is waiting when they arrive.
Seeing Ramona in that condition clearly upsets him. He tells Ellis to prepare the couch for her, but Annie insists they can get Ramona safely back to the cottage instead.
As Ellis and Connor help Ramona home, Annie stays behind to gather the stuffed animals Connor won during the games.
That’s when Joe quietly says this is exactly what Gordon had feared.
Annie demands an explanation, and Joe finally reveals the truth.
Goldie died while giving birth to Ramona, and he was there when it happened, revealing the first concrete answer about Annie and Ramona’s mother’s final days while opening yet another chapter of the mystery surrounding their family.
Episode 5 “I’m Not a Shots Girl Either”
Episode 5 picks up immediately after Joe’s stunning confession that he was present when Goldie died giving birth to Ramona. The revelation leaves Annie carrying another painful truth, while several long-running mysteries surrounding Sterling Point finally begin to come into focus.
Still overwhelmed by everything that’s happened, Ramona spends most of her time hiding away in her room, reading and smoking to avoid thinking about the past. Downstairs, Annie and Connor are busy preparing for Connor’s eighteenth birthday party, but Annie can’t stop thinking about what Joe told her.
She decides not to keep it from Ramona. Annie tells her that Goldie died during childbirth.
The news devastates Ramona. She immediately blames herself for her mother’s death and retreats back to bed, unable to process what she’s just learned. Annie tries to comfort her, but Ramona isn’t ready to talk.
While Connor focuses on organizing his Camp Rock 2-themed birthday party with Sully’s help, Rory learns that the celebration is only for Connor. Annie has never celebrated their shared birthday, something that catches him by surprise.
Elsewhere, Ellis stumbles onto another piece of Gordon’s hidden past.
While sorting paperwork at the marina, he discovers a letter showing that after Gordon died, Joe was legally appointed as Ramona’s guardian. The document raises even more questions about Joe’s relationship with Goldie and why he became responsible for Ramona.
Meanwhile, Rory visits Annie to apologize for Lincoln’s behavior at movie night. Hoping to make up for it, he asks Annie out for her birthday. She accepts, although neither of them puts much thought into exactly what the evening will become.
Away from the growing family drama, Oona is preparing to send Maple to camp when she’s forced to tell her younger sister that their mother won’t be coming back. Maple struggles with the news and runs away to find Ramona.
The two spend time together outside the cottage, venting their emotions by throwing old glass dishes against a stone wall. Once they’ve let out some of their frustration, the conversation becomes more honest.
Ramona helps Maple understand that grief isn’t always anger. Sometimes it’s simply sadness that’s harder to recognize.
The advice helps Ramona begin sorting through her own emotions as well.
Later, Annie joins Ellis for a canoe ride and tells him everything Joe revealed about Goldie’s death. Ellis responds by sharing what he found among the marina records, including the papers naming Joe as Ramona’s guardian.
Together they begin connecting the pieces.
If Joe became Ramona’s guardian and was present when Goldie died, maybe his connection to Ramona goes much deeper than anyone realized.
At the same time, Ramona reconciles with Oona after dropping Maple off. Their friendship slowly begins returning to normal.
Ellis’ search for answers continues when he discovers Goldie’s mixtape inside Joe’s truck. Curious, he listens to it himself.
Instead of finding the same teenage recording Annie heard earlier, Ellis uncovers a later message Goldie recorded while she was pregnant. In it, she’s speaking directly to Joe about their baby.
For Ellis, the recording removes any remaining doubt.
Joe is Ramona’s father.
The next morning, Ramona wishes Annie a happy birthday and asks for one thing going forward: no more secrets.
Annie agrees, even though she’s now hiding the biggest revelation of all until she can figure out how to tell her.
Connor’s birthday celebration gets underway, complete with the Camp Rock 2 theme he insisted on. Ellis arrives carrying two important things for Annie.
The first is the portrait they had drawn together at movie night, now framed by hand after Ellis built it himself.
The second is confirmation that Joe is Ramona’s father.
Before Annie has much time to react, Rory arrives to pick her up for their birthday plans. She awkwardly hugs Ellis goodbye, leaving him standing alone once again.
After Annie leaves, Ellis places Goldie’s mixtape where Joe will find it with a short note asking him to finally tell the truth.
While Connor spends his birthday at the party Sully organized, Denise pulls him aside with an unexpected proposal.
She presents him with a serious offer to buy Sterling Point, giving Connor exactly the kind of opportunity he’d been hoping for since arriving on the island.
Meanwhile, Annie’s evening with Rory takes a very different direction.
The two reconnect with some old friends from New York at a club. During the night, Annie admits she never got into the prestigious summer program she had worked so hard for.
