She explains that humanity was once on the verge of extinction because of constant conflict. In response, the government turned to Silicon Valley to create an AI capable of solving humanity’s problems.
Instead, the AI killed its own creators.
After taking control, it implanted punishment devices into every person and built a society where anger, war, arguments, and even insulting comic books no longer exist. According to the video, rehabilitation lasts 30 months.

Instead, they end up serving the entire 30-month rehabilitation period. When they’re finally released, they appear calmer and happier than before.

When the blindfolds come off, they discover Zach waiting for them. He’s now part of the Resistance, operating from a headquarters protected by technology that blocks the AI’s implants. Inside the building, the neck buzzers no longer work.
Penny leads the Resistance. To undo the AI’s conditioning, she literally slaps each newcomer across the face until they start feeling anger again. One slap after another, Stuart, Barry, and Bert regain their emotions.
The biggest surprise comes from Denise.
She’s the one who secretly contacted the Resistance after discovering the dimensional machine. While everyone hopes the machine can destroy the AI, the group explains that’s not how it works. It only transports people into another universe, and even they don’t fully understand how to operate it.
Penny is ready to execute the three newcomers, believing they’re too dangerous to trust.
Barry has other plans.
While pretending to study the machine, he secretly prepares it for another jump. Just as Penny and Zach are about to shoot him, AI drones attack the Resistance headquarters.
A firefight breaks out between the Resistance and the drones while Stuart, Denise, Bert, and Barry rush toward the machine. Barry briefly tries to leave everyone behind and escape alone, but the others reach the portal in time.

Bert, however, isn’t nearly as fortunate. He suddenly finds himself tied to a wooden stake while a crowd chants, “Burn the scientists,” treating him like a witch about to be executed.
Barry’s first instinct isn’t to help. Instead, he takes off, leaving Bert behind as the episode ends.
