The episode opens in a version of Pasadena that barely resembles the one fans know. Society has collapsed, violence has become normal, and strange tears in space connect different dimensions.
Stuart still operates his comic book store, although business now looks very different. Customers barter canned food for comic books, and disagreements over superhero rankings can quickly become deadly. After one customer ( that wr alredy saw durign the The Big Bang Theory) is stabbed during an argument over Hawkeye’s place among the Avengers, Stuart casually disposes of the body through one of the dimensional rifts that have become part of everyday life.
The bizarre routine is interrupted when another Stuart suddenly steps out of one of those openings.
This version of Stuart claims to come from another reality and insists that everything can still be fixed. Before he begins to disappear, he explains that Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon Cooper and Howard Wolowitz accidentally destroyed reality after their quantum entanglement machine malfunctioned at CalTech. Stuart witnessed the accident, and returning to that machine is the only chance to repair the damage.
Unfortunately, the warning ends before he can explain everything. As the duplicate Stuart glitches out of existence, he leaves behind only fragments of instructions.
Stuart heads to CalTech in search of the machine
The following morning, Stuart convinces Bert to travel with him to CalTech despite having very little proof that the mysterious encounter was real.
Their journey shows just how broken this world has become. Along the road they pass survivors willing to perform strange acts for food, including Penn and Teller entertaining people by juggling rodents. Stuart even stops to buy dental floss as though the apocalypse has become routine.
Another surprise waits nearby.
Denise appears alive after Stuart had assumed she was dead. She has adapted to this harsh reality by becoming a thief while continuing to work on a screenplay whenever she can. She also introduces Gary, her new boyfriend, explaining that her former friend Lisa was killed by cannibals.
When Bert accidentally reveals why they are traveling to CalTech, Denise immediately warns them against going. According to her, almost nobody returns alive.
Even so, she and Gary decide to join the mission.
Gary’s military plan lasts only seconds
Once the group reaches CalTech, they discover that Denise’s warning was completely justified. Armed soldiers guard every entrance, leaving Stuart with no idea how to get inside.
Gary quickly steps forward.
Unlike Stuart, Gary has military experience and immediately puts together an infiltration plan. He volunteers to create a distraction while everyone else sneaks into the campus by hiding beneath supply trucks entering through another gate.
His strategy never gets the chance to unfold.
The moment Gary walks toward the entrance, he is shot and killed almost instantly. His carefully prepared operation ends before it truly begins, leaving the remaining survivors surrounded and captured by the armed guards.
Denise barely has time to process Gary’s death before they are all taken prisoner.
Raj reveals who really controls this reality
The prisoners are brought into one of Bert’s old geology classrooms, where they discover Raj.
Raj has survived, although years of living inside this nightmare have clearly taken a toll on him. He has spent his time studying the strange reality around him and has reached one important conclusion: this is not the universe that is supposed to exist.
He explains that someone known only as “The Evil One” now controls reality itself. Raj refuses to speak the name aloud because doing so brings terrible consequences.
Stuart insists there is still hope. Believing the message from his alternate self, he declares that he is the person meant to set everything right.
Before anyone can act, another powerful figure arrives.
Barry Kripke has transformed himself into the self-proclaimed ruler of the San Gabriel Valley. Still speaking with his familiar lisp, Kripke proudly explains that he built his empire by controlling the area’s food, weapons and surviving population.
His attention quickly turns to Denise, whom he orders to join his personal harem. When she refuses, he sentences her to death instead.
Bert turns geology into a weapon
Separated from Denise, Stuart, Bert and Raj search for any opportunity to escape.
Bert realizes that the rocks inside his classroom can be turned into makeshift explosives. After demonstrating the chemical reaction with potassium and water, he successfully creates deadly homemade grenades.
When a guard enters to execute them, Bert uses one of the improvised bombs to kill him.
The trio immediately fights their way through the building, using Bert’s explosive creations against Kripke’s soldiers as they race toward the quantum machine.
Meanwhile, Denise refuses to accept her fate. She cleverly gains Kripke’s trust long enough to convince him to untie her. The moment she is free, she knocks him unconscious and escapes, eventually reuniting with Stuart and the others.
Together, they finally reach the machine that started everything.

At last, Raj begins working on the quantum entanglement machine, hoping to restore the original timeline.
Before he can finish, Kripke catches up with the group and shoots Raj. Mortally wounded, Raj experiences another hallucination before dying.
That leaves Stuart and Denise scrambling to operate the machine themselves. They rely on its instruction manual, but Denise accidentally skips one of the required steps.
Instead of restoring reality, the machine activates in an entirely different way. A powerful surge pulls Stuart, Bert and Kripke into the device before it disappears completely.
The three are carried through what appears to be another jump across realities.
