Enigma Variations has been announced as a new limited series on Netflix starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, based on the bestselling novel by André Aciman.
Netflix confirmed the project, along with key creative details, including the involvement of the studio Media Res and a creative team led by showrunner Amanda Kate Shuman and director Oliver Hermanus.
The series will adapt Aciman’s novel, which traces a man’s relationships over a decade, exploring identity, intimacy, and the emotional impact of love across time.

His recent credits include 28 Years Later, Nosferatu, and Nocturnal Animals. In Enigma Variations, he takes on the central role of a man navigating a series of defining relationships across different stages of his life.
Netflix confirmed his casting as part of the initial announcement, with no additional cast members revealed at this stage.

The series is produced by Media Res, the studio behind The Morning Show, Pachinko, and the upcoming The Miniature Wife.
Amanda Kate Shuman serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Her previous credits include The Wheel of Time and Carrie Soto Is Back.
Oliver Hermanus will direct the series. His past work includes The History of Sound and Living.
