While the official reviews and recaps are still tucked away under a strict embargo until the season premiere on March 12, I can drop a few breadcrumbs about what’s waiting for us in the mist-covered mountains. If I had to sum up the vibe of this upcoming chapter? Man! I feel like the fans are finally getting the payoff they’ve been waiting for.
If you want a spoiler-free hint to chew on: Season 7 is a treasure hunt. The writers have meticulously woven in “Easter eggs” and a surprise appearance that absolutely nobody is going to see coming. But here is my professional word of advice: if you aren’t familiar with every minute detail of this town, go back to the beginning. This season was written to connect dots that reach all the way back to the very first episode of Season 1.
You’ll want to watch carefully; things you thought were throwaway lines years ago are suddenly the keys to the kingdom.
For those of you who follow the cast beyond the screen, there’s an extra layer of satisfaction coming. We know some of you felt a bit disappointed when the leads’ “inappropriate” social media cooking lives ended over the last few years. Without giving too much away, let’s just say the kitchen is getting some heavy use this season, and the spirit of those Henderson and Breckenridge Instagram Lives might just find its way into the script.
But before we dive headfirst into the high-stakes drama of Season 7, we have to look back at the beautiful, chaotic, and occasionally heart-wrenching events of the Season 6 finale.
In true Virgin River fashion, the writers gave us the wedding of the decade, only to pull the rug out from under almost every other character in town.
From shock proposals to criminal disappearances, here is exactly where we left our favorite residents.

The Vows: Mel and Jack Finally Say “I Do”
The centerpiece of the finale was, of course, the long-awaited union of Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan. In a move that felt perfectly on-brand for a couple who has endured everything from wildfires to gunmen, they actually fled their own ceremony before it started. Finding a quiet pocket of the woods, the same area where their romance first sparked, they traded fears instead of rings. It was a grounded, human moment that allowed them to shed the weight of the past before walking toward the future.
When they finally returned to the altar, the “hitch” was a sentimental one: Jack surprised Mel by wearing his formal Marines uniform. Adding to the emotional weight, Doc orchestrated a surprise performance by Mel’s biological father, Everett, who played the completed song he had written for Mel’s mother, Sarah.

The Adoption Bombshell
The morning-after glow didn’t last long. Marley, the young pregnant woman Mel had been treating at the birthing center, arrived on Mel’s doorstep in tears. While the baby’s health was fine, the adoption plan with Phil and Darla had imploded. In a staggering turn of events, Marley asked Mel and Jack to adopt the baby themselves.

The Fall of Dan Brady
If there is one character who cannot catch a break, it is Brady. After a season of trying to balance his burgeoning feelings for Lark with his undeniable connection to Brie, the house of cards collapsed.
Lark, who had been secretly collaborating with Jimmy to siphon off Brady’s insurance money, finally reached her breaking point. Despite developing genuine feelings for him, she fled town, but not before emptying his accounts. Brady is left financially ruined and emotionally isolated, having admitted to Brie at the wedding that she will always be “the one.”

The Proposal and the Betrayal
In one of the most polarizing moments of the finale, Mike popped the question to Brie immediately following the wedding. Overcome by the weight of her recent indiscretion with Brady, Brie attempted to come clean. However, Mike, the ever-watchful detective, cut her off with two chilling words: “I know.”
The cliffhanger leaves us with a mountain of questions. How long has Mike known? Why did he choose a moment of betrayal to offer a lifetime commitment? And most importantly, will Brie actually say yes to a man who is using a proposal as a tactical move?

Doc’s Practice Under Fire
While the town celebrated, Doc Mullins faced a professional execution. His medical license has been suspended following an investigation, partially exacerbated by Hope’s well-intentioned but disastrous meddling.
The threat is larger than just a license, however. Grace Valley Hospital is looking to expand, and they view Doc’s clinic as an obstacle to be removed.

The Nursery Cliffhanger: Where is Charmaine?
The most jarring note of the finale involved Charmaine Roberts. After failing to show up to style Mel’s hair for the wedding, Charmaine went radio silent. When Jack eventually checked her house, he found a scene of total disarray: the door hanging open and the interior trashed.
The season ended with Jack entering the twins’ room and seeming shocked. We didn’t see what he saw, but his face told the story.
