According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Season 3 opens after the events of Season Two. Peter Sutherland is tasked with tracking a young Treasury agent who has fled to Istanbul carrying sensitive government intelligence after killing his boss.
The investigation leads Peter into a network of dark-money operations, hired assassins, and a journalist pursuing the same trail. The synopsis confirms that Peter and the journalist work together as they uncover buried secrets and long-standing grudges tied to the government, while facing threats directly tied to the investigation.

Gabriel Basso on Peter Sutherland in Season 3
In a statement shared via Netflix, Gabriel Basso addressed how Peter approaches his work at this stage in the series.
Basso said that Peter is no longer balancing his personal life and professional responsibilities in the same way, describing the character as more “monomaniacal.” He noted that whether this shift functions as a defense mechanism or something else is left to the viewer. Basso added that he enjoyed committing fully to a more focused version of Peter for Season 3.
