Netflix has officially revealed the title, cast, and production details for Big Mistakes, the upcoming family crime comedy co-created by and starring Dan Levy.
The series has begun filming in New Jersey, marking the first project under Levy’s overall television deal with the streamer.
The Premise
The eight-episode comedy follows two deeply incapable siblings who find themselves blackmailed into the world of organized crime. Levy, best known for creating Schitt’s Creek and his recent film Good Grief, not only stars but also serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Levy’s partnership with Netflix has already delivered his feature directorial debut, Good Grief. Big Mistakes expands that relationship, becoming his first scripted series with the platform and a new comedic follow-up to the Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek.

Why Big Mistakes Is One to Watch
Combining Levy’s sharp comedic writing with an ensemble of seasoned actors and fresh faces, Big Mistakes promises the kind of offbeat humor and dysfunctional family dynamics that made Schitt’s Creek a phenomenon. The twist? This time, the stakes are higher, with crime, blackmail, and organized chaos driving the plot.
The inclusion of Laurie Metcalf, Taylor Ortega, and Elizabeth Perkins alongside Levy suggests a balance of fast-paced comedic energy and heartfelt character work. And with Rachel Sennott as co-creator, the show may also lean into edgier, more absurd territory.
Release Details
Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for Big Mistakes, but production is underway in New Jersey. With an eight-episode order and a cast this stacked, the series is positioned as a potential comedy highlight in Netflix’s upcoming lineup.
