NFL Returns to Netflix on Christmas Day 2025 With Two Live Games and a Star-Packed Lineup

Netflix is doubling down on its growing relationship with the NFL.

This Christmas, football fans can expect a double-header of NFC rivalry action streaming live on the platform. On December 25, 2025, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Detroit Lions facing off against the Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET. The first game will be broadcast from Northwest Stadium in Maryland, and the second from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

These matchups are part of Netflix’s continued push into live sports and will be produced in partnership with CBS Sports and NFL Media, which will handle pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage.

A Historic Follow-Up to 2024’s Record-Breaking Broadcast

Netflix first dipped into live NFL territory in 2024 with two Christmas Day games, Chiefs vs. Steelers and Ravens vs. Texans, which shattered streaming records. Those broadcasts drew over 26.5 million viewers in the U.S. alone, with global numbers topping 30 million. They remain the most-watched NFL games ever streamed.

But it wasn’t just the football that made headlines. Beyoncé took center stage in her hometown of Houston with a performance that quickly became iconic. Her “Cowboy Carter” album debut included appearances by Post Malone, Shaboozey, Reyna Roberts, Brittney Spencer, and Blue Ivy Carter. The Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul Marching Band and rodeo legends rounded out the massive Western-themed spectacle, now known as the Beyoncé Bowl. That event is still available to stream on Netflix.

How to Watch the NFL on Netflix This Year

Watching the 2025 Christmas Day games on Netflix is easy. A standard Netflix subscription is all you need, and no special add-ons or premium sports packages are required. Once logged in, the games will be available to all subscribers across every plan tier.

Netflix and the NFL: A Growing Partnership

This year’s Christmas Gameday is just one part of Netflix’s expanding sports slate. In addition to live games, the streamer is producing a series of NFL-focused projects. Coming soon is a new season of Quarterback, this time featuring Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions. Fans can also revisit Receiver, which previously highlighted Justin Jefferson and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who will play in this year’s Christmas matchups.

On the Dallas Cowboys front, Netflix is set to release America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, along with PRIME TIME, a series centered on Deion Sanders. Meanwhile, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is returning for a second season, following the team behind the scenes.

This growing sports footprint also included last year’s live-streamed Paul vs. Tyson fight, which took place at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, another sign that Netflix is serious about making live sports a permanent part of its programming.
