As Big Mouth prepares to bow out after eight acclaimed seasons, Netflix is making sure fans of the beloved adult animated series won’t be left in the lurch.
Enter Mating Season — a brand-new, adult animated romantic comedy from Brutus Pink, the creative minds behind Big Mouth and Human Resources. Coming in 2026, this new series shifts from middle school hormones to forest-floor flirtations, bringing a fresh take on love, lust, and emotional chaos — animal-style.
From Puberty to Partnership: The Evolution of Brutus Pink’s Animation Universe
If Big Mouth was about the awkward mess of adolescence, Mating Season promises to tackle the equally messy world of adult relationships — only this time, with woodland creatures. The series centers around a cast of raccoons, bears, deer, foxes, and other forest critters, all navigating the complexities of finding love (and hookups) in the wild. Expect the same mix of raunchy humor, sharp social commentary, and unexpectedly poignant storytelling that made Big Mouth a standout in the adult animation landscape.
The series is created and executive produced by Big Mouth co-creators Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, and Nick Kroll. They’re joined by executive producers Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina for Titmouse, the studio behind the animation.
“After eight incredible seasons telling stories about growing up, we’re excited to tell stories about actual grown-ups,” said the Brutus Pink team. “Who happen to be animals. Who are also cartoons.”
Netflix’s VP of Animation Series, John Derderian, added:
“Big Mouth broke new ground in the world of adult animation… Now, with Mating Season, they’ll bring that same bold and hilarious creativity into the animal kingdom.”

Before the Next Chapter: Big Mouth Takes One Last Wild Ride
Before Mating Season makes its 2026 debut, fans still have one more chance to celebrate Big Mouth. Season 8 — the final season — premieres May 23, 2025, bringing closure to a series that’s redefined adult animation over the past decade.
But that’s not all. Nick Kroll and the cast are taking the farewell on the road with the Big Mouth Swallows America tour — a cross-country rollout of advance screenings, exclusive merch drops, and wild fan events in cities that include Cooter, Missouri, and a cheeky stop in The Phallus, Utah.
“There is no better way to celebrate a global phenomenon like Big Mouth than driving a yellow van from Dallas to Tampa to Chicago and all points west,” said the Brutus Pink team.
Why Big Mouth Mattered — and What It Leaves Behind
Since its 2017 debut, Big Mouth has become a global streaming phenomenon, racking up over 375 million views and redefining how TV can talk about identity, sexuality, and mental health. Across 71 episodes and nearly 2,000 minutes of runtime, it’s brought audiences face-to-face with the weird, wonderful messiness of adolescence.
The show’s creative team didn’t just lean into cringe — they elevated it. From original musical numbers like I Love My Body and Life is a F**ed Up Mess*, to unforgettable characters like the Hormone Monsters and the Shame Wizard, Big Mouth tackled taboo topics with a rare blend of irreverence and empathy.

The Emmy®-nominated series also made awards history, including Maya Rudolph’s four Emmy wins for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance as Connie the Hormone Monstress. Over the years, Big Mouth featured 222 guest stars, including Cynthia Erivo, Megan Thee Stallion, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Tyler the Creator, and Jean Smart.
