Netflix has released the official trailer and new images for The Body, a new eight-episode series from Under the Bridge writer-director Quinn Shephard. The series premieres November 11, 2026, only on Netflix.
Set around a group of Catholic school girls, The Body begins with a dance-team initiation that goes badly wrong and the disappearance of Grace. From there, prophetic visions begin spreading through the group and set off mass hysteria in their town.
What Is The Body About?
Netflix’s official logline reads:
“After a dance-team initiation gone wrong, a group of badly behaved Catholic school girls begin having prophetic visions that set off mass hysteria in their town.”
Shephard created the series and serves as an executive producer and director. She previously wrote and directed the Emmy-nominated mystery Under the Bridge.
For The Body, Shephard drew partly from her own teenage experiences, describing the series to Netflix as a “playful spin” on what she went through growing up.
“I literally made this for my teen self,” she told Netflix. “Tonally, I would describe the show as gritty camp. It’s a raunchy teen psychodrama with a dash of Catholic horror.”
Shephard also pointed to the movies and stories that shaped the series. Her influences include Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, Heavenly Creatures and Mean Girls, along with what she described as a “massive hyperfixation” on The Crucible.
“This show can be really funny and it can still be really sad at times or really spooky,” Shephard said.

Netflix has released the official trailer alongside a new collection of images ahead of the show’s November 11 premiere.
