Netflix, New on Netflix

Netflix has released the official trailer for Below, a new six-episode limited series starring Josh Hartnett, Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton. The thriller premieres October 8 on Netflix.

The trailer arrives ahead of the show’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Below will serve as the Primetime Opening Night selection.

Below follows a fisherman facing a threat from the sea

Hartnett stars as Calvin Penney, a fisherman living in a small Newfoundland town who is still dealing with the mysterious death of his father decades earlier.

His life takes another turn when an unidentified sea creature begins terrorizing the town. Calvin sets out to protect his family and community, including his son Wade (Heaton), while working with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander (Davis) to confront the creature and uncover secrets connected to the island.

The series combines its creature story with the mystery surrounding Calvin’s father and the effect the new threat has on the people living in the town.
