Band of Brothers is marking its 25th anniversary with a new documentary bringing several members of the original cast back to reflect on making the HBO limited series.
Band of Brothers: Legacy premieres September 9 on HBO and HBO Max, exactly 25 years after Band of Brothers first debuted. The documentary combines new cast interviews with previously unseen archival footage and photographs of Easy Company and World War II.
Which Band of Brothers Cast Members Return for Legacy?
Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Michael Cudlitz, Capt. Dale Dye, USMC (Ret.), and David Schwimmer are among the Band of Brothers cast members interviewed for the documentary, with additional participants also appearing.
Rather than continuing the story of the original series, Legacy looks back at its production and the real history behind it. The cast members share stories from making Band of Brothers and reflect on the series 25 years later.
The documentary also returns to the story of Easy Company, whose experiences during World War II formed the basis of the original limited series.
Former Green Beret Chase Millsap directs Band of Brothers: Legacy, with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman serving as executive producers. Kirk Saduski, Richard Arlook, and Sean Mullin produce, while Spencer Millsap serves as director of photography and editor.

HBO Max Is Adding More Band of Brothers Content for the Anniversary
The documentary isn’t the only new Band of Brothers material arriving on September 9.
HBO Max is also adding video diaries from Ron Livingston and Richard Speight to the original series’ page. The streamer will launch an in-app collection titled “In the Company of Heroes” on the same day, bringing together documentaries and other titles inspired by true stories.
The anniversary marks 25 years since Band of Brothers debuted on HBO in September 2001.
The limited series follows Easy Company, part of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, through World War II. It went on to win multiple awards, including the Emmy for Outstanding Miniseries.
All episodes of Band of Brothers are currently available to stream on HBO Max, while Band of Brothers: Legacy premieres September 9 on HBO and HBO Max.
