HBO has released the second official teaser for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, giving us another look at its new adaptation before it arrives this Christmas.
The eight-episode first season will debut on HBO at Christmas 2026 and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone begins, naturally, with Harry believing there is nothing particularly unusual about him. That changes when a letter arrives offering him a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Hogwarts introduces Harry to an entirely new world, along with the friendships and dangers that come with it. The first season will adapt the story of the first book across eight episodes.
HBO has currently announced a Christmas 2026 debut.
Who Stars in HBO’s Harry Potter Series?
The new generation at the center of the series is led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Several of Hogwarts’ most familiar professors have also been cast. John Lithgow plays Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer is Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu plays Severus Snape, and Nick Frost takes on the role of Rubeus Hagrid.
The student cast includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, and William Nash as Gregory Goyle.
Warwick Davis plays Filius Flitwick, while Sirine Saba stars as Pomona Sprout.
Outside Hogwarts, Daniel Rigby and Bel Powley play Vernon and Petunia Dursley, with Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley. Katherine Parkinson plays Molly Weasley and Gracie Cochrane is Ginny Weasley.
The wider cast also includes Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Richard Durden as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
The First Season Will Have Eight Episodes
The first season of HBO’s Harry Potter adaptation consists of eight episodes.
Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the series, with Mark Mylod executive producing and directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman also serve as executive producers.
The series is produced for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
For now, HBO has only narrowed the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premiere down to Christmas 2026, with an exact date still to be announced.
