What Is Yellowjackets Season 4 About?

The wilderness story is moving closer to the rescue that has hung over Yellowjackets since the series began.

Paramount+’s first description of Season 4 says the survivors are racing to bury their sins before rescue arrives. That still leaves plenty unanswered about exactly how they are found and what happens immediately before they finally leave the wilderness.

Meanwhile, the present-day storyline has its own complication. An old flame returns to town with plans that apparently won’t make for a particularly happy reunion.

Paramount+ hasn’t revealed who that person is yet, so we’ll have to wait for more from the final season before we know exactly which past relationship is coming back into play.

Who Is Returning for Yellowjackets Season 4?

The final season brings back the show’s main ensemble, led by Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress.

Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton and Liv Hewson are also returning, continuing the younger versions of the survivors’ stories.

The Season 4 cast also includes Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and Hilary Swank.

Swank joined Yellowjackets during Season 3 as Melissa, introducing another adult survivor from the wilderness timeline into the present-day story.

Season 4 Will End the Yellowjackets Story

The November premiere begins the final chapter of a story that has always been split between two periods.

Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team after their plane crashes in the remote wilderness, tracing how the survivors change as they fight to survive. At the same time, the series follows those who made it home nearly 25 years later and the consequences of what happened before their rescue.

With Season 4 now moving the younger survivors toward that rescue, the gap between the two timelines is narrowing.

Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who created Yellowjackets, return as showrunners and executive producers for the final season.

Drew Comins, Jonathan Lisco, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Julia Bicknell also executive produce. The series is produced for Showtime by Lionsgate Television.

All three previous seasons are currently available through the Paramount+ Premium Plan.
