Off Campus Season 2 has found its Summer Di Laurentis. Shay Rudolph has joined the Prime Video series as Dean’s younger sister, adding another important character from Elle Kennedy’s books as filming for the second season continues.
The casting was revealed on the official Off Campus social media accounts, with Stephen Thomas Kalyn, who plays Dean, introducing Rudolph as his on-screen sister. Rudolph’s role is described as a guest star.
Summer’s arrival is particularly interesting because she has connections to both Dean and Hunter Davenport, whose real identity was revealed at the end of Season 1. And while Season 2 is expected to center on Dean and Allie’s story from The Score, bringing Summer into the series this early gives the adaptation another part of the wider Off Campus book world to work with.

Shay Rudolph Will Play Summer Di Laurentis in Off Campus Season 2
Rudolph is known for playing Stacey McGill in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club and has also appeared in The Sex Lives of College Girls and Lethal Weapon.
She now joins Stephen Thomas Kalyn’s Dean Di Laurentis in Off Campus Season 2 as Summer, his younger sister.
Charlie Evans’ character was introduced under a false identity before the finale revealed that he was actually Hunter. Allie had already hooked up with him by that point, only to discover his identity and his complicated history with Dean. Adding Summer means the series can now begin to fill in another important piece of that history.
Summer Could Explain Why Dean Hates Hunter So Much
Season 1 made it very clear that there is no love lost between Dean and Hunter, but viewers haven’t been given the whole story behind their hostility yet.
The books provide considerably more context. Hunter and Dean were rivals during their high school hockey years, but Summer is another connection between them. Hunter previously dated Dean’s sister and fell in love with her before Summer ended their relationship.
Her story doesn’t stop there. Summer later becomes romantically involved with Colin Fitzgerald, better known as Fitz, who had been Hunter’s best friend. Hunter sees their relationship as another betrayal, further complicating the history between the characters.
With Rudolph now playing Summer, Season 2 has the opportunity to bring some of that history into the show and explain why Dean’s issues with Hunter run deeper than what viewers saw during the first season.
How much of Summer’s book storyline will actually be adapted in Season 2 has not been confirmed.
Summer Has Her Own Book Outside the Main Off Campus Series
Summer isn’t one of the central heroines of the original four-book Off Campus series.
Her romance with Fitz is instead the focus of The Chase, the first book in Elle Kennedy’s Briar U series, which continues in the same world after the four core Off Campus novels. That makes the timing of her introduction worth watching.
Season 2 is set to move the television adaptation into Dean and Allie’s story, The Score, the third novel in the main series. Summer’s own romance comes considerably later in the published book order.
The show could simply be introducing her now because she is Dean’s sister and already has a relevant connection to Hunter. But having Summer and Hunter both established this early also gives the adaptation the option to move pieces of their stories around rather than follow the books in strict order.
It also opens a stronger possibility for the series if Prime Video wants to continue beyond adaptations of the four main Off Campus novels. Kennedy’s world doesn’t end there. Briar U follows other characters connected to Briar University, beginning with Summer and Fitz in The Chase.
Off Campus Season 2 Has Already Added Grace and Scarlett
Rudolph isn’t the only addition to the Season 2 cast.
Between late April and May 2026, two other new cast members were announced. India Fowler will play Grace Ivers, Logan’s love interest from The Mistake, while Phillipa Soo will recur as Scarlett, a visiting theater director.
The returning cast includes Stephen Thomas Kalyn and Mika Abdalla, whose Dean and Allie will move to the center of Season 2, alongside Belmont Cameli, Ella Bright, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks.
Filming on Off Campus Season 2 has been underway since June. Prime Video has not announced a release date.
