Every Year After has not been renewed for Season 2 yet. However, the future direction of the Prime Video series is already becoming clear thanks to comments from showrunner Amy B. Harris, the source material, and the way the first season ends.
While fans wait for an official decision from Prime Video, there is already plenty to discuss. From a potential adaptation of One Golden Summer to Charlie’s expanded role, here’s everything we know about Every Year After Season 2 so far.
The conversation around Every Year After Season 2 started almost immediately after the finale. That’s not surprising considering the first season leaves several storylines open and introduces elements that go beyond Carley Fortune’s original novel Every Summer After.
Season 2 Has Not Been Renewed Yet
Before diving into story possibilities, it’s important to start with the current status.
As of June 12, 2026, Prime Video has not officially renewed Every Year After for a second season.
Reports indicate that a renewal decision will largely depend on how the first season performs with viewers.
At the moment, we have not found any indication from production sources in British Columbia that filming is planned, nor have we seen evidence that a writers’ room has opened for a second season.
That doesn’t mean a renewal isn’t coming. It simply means there is currently no confirmed production activity.
Timing could become a factor. The first season filmed during the summer and early fall of 2025. Unless a renewal arrives quickly, it may become difficult to return to those same seasonal filming windows in 2026 for a potential 2027 release.
For now, fans are waiting.

Amy B. Harris Is Thinking Bigger Than One Book
One reason many viewers remain optimistic is that showrunner Amy B. Harris has already spoken about a long-term vision for the series.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harris said:
“I see five seasons.”
That statement explains many of the changes made during the first season.
Unlike a limited series adaptation, a multi-season television drama requires ongoing storylines, supporting characters, and conflicts that extend beyond the ending of a single novel.
The first season introduced Delilah, Chantal, Jordie, and several storylines that do not exist in exactly the same way in the books.
Whether viewers loved those additions or not, they help create a larger Barry’s Bay television universe that can continue beyond Percy and Sam’s romance.
One Golden Summer Appears To Be The Blueprint
If Season 2 happens, the most obvious source material is One Golden Summer.
Carley Fortune’s second Barry’s Bay novel shifts the focus away from Percy and Sam and centers on Charlie Florek and Alice Everly.
The information we are adding here is from the book, but keep in mind some information or details will likely change for the adaptation.
Readers first met Alice years earlier through a photograph she took as a teenager during one unforgettable summer at Barry’s Bay. The image would later become the foundation of her photography career.
Now thirty-two, Alice arrives back at the lake while recovering from a painful breakup and professional burnout.
What she doesn’t expect is Charlie.

What Is One Golden Summer About?
Alice spends the summer helping her grandmother Nan recover from hip surgery at the family cottage.
Next door is Charlie Florek. On the surface, Charlie appears to be enjoying a break from his high-pressure Bay Street career. In reality, he is secretly dealing with a serious heart condition inherited from his father, who died from a heart attack at just thirty-five years old.
Charlie is now approaching the same age. Throughout the summer, Alice and Charlie reconnect while working through a bucket list inspired by that long-ago summer that changed both of their lives.
Their relationship begins casually but gradually becomes something much deeper.
Along the way, familiar faces return, including Sam, Percy, and in the series likely also Delilah, Chantal, and Jordie.
The novel eventually reveals Charlie’s health struggles, leading to heartbreak, separation, and ultimately reconciliation after his successful surgery.
The story ends with Charlie and Alice together, while Percy and Sam welcome their daughter Susie, named after Sue Florek.

Which Characters Could Return?
If Prime Video follows the broad outline of One Golden Summer, several familiar characters would likely remain part of the story.
Charlie Florek
The first season already places Charlie in a significantly larger role than he had in Every Summer After. The second season will become the central figure moving forward.
Alice Everly
Alice is the obvious newcomer fans should be watching for.
In the novel she is a freelance photographer recovering from a breakup and struggling to reconnect with her creative passion. Her relationship with Charlie drives the entire story.
Percy and Sam Florek
Although they are no longer the primary couple in One Golden Summer, Percy and Sam remain important supporting characters throughout the novel.
Their relationship serves as a contrast to Charlie and Alice’s more complicated romance.
Nan Everly
Alice’s grandmother is one of the book’s most memorable characters.
Recovering from hip surgery while trying to hold onto the cottage she loves, Nan becomes a key part of both Alice and Charlie’s journeys.
Why We Don’t Expect A Completely Faithful Adaptation
Even if Season 2 follows One Golden Summer, viewers probably shouldn’t expect a direct page-for-page adaptation.
The first season already established original storylines involving Delilah, Chantal, Jordie, and other supporting characters coming from the second novel, Heather, Alice’s older sister, another lawyer, her niece Bennett, a thirteen-year-old, Heather’s daughter. Another cast addition might be Luca, one of Alice’s younger twin siblings (the other is her sister Lavinia), who is a bartender in the book.
Those relationships would need to continue. Television also requires a larger ensemble than a contemporary romance novel.
That likely means additional characters, expanded storylines, and new relationships that create opportunities for conflict, friendship, and romance beyond Charlie and Alice.
In many ways, Season 1 already laid that groundwork.
The challenge for a potential second season will be balancing the story readers love while continuing the larger television world that the series has already built.
