Episode 1: Hiking
The group’s first trip together since Nick’s death begins with a hike that quickly proves more difficult than expected.
Anne joins Kate, Danny, Claude, Jack, and a pregnant Ginny as they make their way up the mountain where Jack hopes to scatter Nick’s ashes. While Anne and Jack talk about training for a marathon, Ginny stays well ahead of the group and chats about her pilates classes. Anne insists she’s embracing a new chapter in her life and starts listing all the things she might do next, from taking classes to starting a business.
When they finally reach the summit, their plan is interrupted by a group of Girl Scouts already occupying the area. Rather than wait around, Anne suggests they simply scatter the ashes somewhere else, but the group decides to postpone the ceremony and spend the night nearby before trying again the next day.
Back at the motel, the awkwardness hanging over the trip becomes harder to ignore.
Kate admits to Danny that she never wanted to come. She is especially concerned about Jack, who seems determined to turn the weekend into something bigger than a simple memorial. During dinner, Ginny reveals she plans to name her baby Cove. The announcement sparks a discussion about children, and Danny casually mentions that he and Claude once talked about becoming parents. Claude immediately pushes back, insisting that it was never the issue between them.
The conversation grows increasingly uncomfortable until Jack steps in and reminds everyone that the point of the trip is to stay connected. He tells Ginny that, whether she likes it or not, she is now part of the group.
Old Wounds Start Reopening
As the evening continues, Anne pulls Kate aside and finally admits what she has been trying to hide.
Seeing Ginny again has been harder than she expected.
Anne says she does not believe they are meant to be friends and hopes the relationship ends once Nick’s ashes have been scattered. At the same time, Jack unveils matching T-shirts for what he calls the first annual Nick Weekend, hoping the tradition will continue for years to come.
The motel creates another awkward situation when everyone learns there are only three available rooms. Anne and Ginny are forced to share one. Unhappy with the arrangement, Anne switches rooms while Danny and Claude continue arguing over their past disagreement about having children.
Meanwhile, Ginny receives more bad news. Her application for an apartment has been rejected, adding another layer of stress to an already difficult situation. When Claude checks on her, he discovers she is also upset about Anne. Assuming the rest of the group already knew the details, Ginny speaks openly about the ongoing tension between them.
The next morning, those comments begin causing problems.
The Truth About Nick’s Estate Comes Out
Claude wakes up furious. After speaking with Ginny, he believes Anne deliberately kept all of Nick’s money for herself while refusing to help Nick’s child’s mother. Danny tries to calm him down, arguing that the situation is probably more complicated than Ginny made it out to be.
Kate then reveals that Anne privately told her she never wanted to see Ginny again after the memorial trip. That information only makes Claude angrier.
He refuses to continue the hike and insists there is no reason to pretend everything is fine. The conversation is interrupted several times as the rest of the group gradually gathers outside, but the tension remains.
Ginny joins them and mentions a chance of rain, giving everyone another excuse to abandon the hike altogether. Anne points out that she never even heard Nick mention the mountain before, while Ginny remembers him talking about visiting it as a Boy Scout.
No one seems particularly eager to continue. The only exception is Jack.
Jack Refuses To Give Up
While the rest of the group looks for reasons to quit, Jack remains focused on completing the memorial.
Kate eventually finds him watching footage he recorded during the trip. Using his action camera, he has been trying to capture what it feels like for the group to spend time together again.
After seeing how much the weekend means to him, Kate changes her mind. She returns to the others and tells them to stop arguing and finish what they came to do.
Reluctantly, everyone heads back up the mountain. The second hike is no more successful than the first. After reaching the top, Jack begins sharing facts about the mountain’s history, only for Danny to realize he forgot to bring the ashes.
The group is forced to turn around once again.
A Family Feud Reaches The Surface
On the way back down, Claude and Danny revisit their disagreement about children.
Claude remains convinced that Danny was the one who decided they should never become parents. Danny remembers the conversation differently, but neither of them is able to move past it.
When they return to the base of the mountain, Jack suggests postponing the memorial again and coming back another weekend.
This time Anne refuses.
After keeping her feelings bottled up throughout the trip, she finally explodes. Anne admits that watching everyone embrace Ginny has been incredibly difficult. She understands why people care about her, but that does not erase what the situation has meant for her own life.
Claude immediately shifts the conversation to money, accusing Anne of refusing to share Nick’s estate.
Anne responds by revealing the issue is still unresolved.
The argument reaches a new level when she discloses that Ginny has filed a lawsuit against her. Ginny insists her lawyer advised her that legal action was the only way to get Anne’s attention.
Before anyone can continue fighting, police vehicles arrive and order everyone inside.
An active manhunt is underway in the area, bringing the trip to an abrupt halt.

Episode 2: Funky Motel
The group remains trapped at the motel as police continue searching for the suspect connected to the manhunt.
Jack immediately tries to find out what is happening outside, but officers quickly order him back into his room and warn him not to interfere. Inside, everyone searches for answers online while Claude becomes convinced he has uncovered the story behind the investigation. His confidence disappears when he realizes the article he found is years old.
With nowhere to go and no clear timeline for when they will be allowed to leave, attention quickly returns to the unresolved tension between Anne and Ginny.
Jack believes the only way forward is to have an honest conversation and clear the air. Anne is far less optimistic.
She explains that after Nick’s death, she unexpectedly became responsible for handling his estate. According to her lawyer, decisions involving child support were supposed to be addressed after the baby was born. Anne insists she was trying to follow legal advice, while Ginny argues she had no choice but to take legal action because she was worried about supporting her child.
The conversation only grows more heated.
Ginny points out that Anne still has access to significant assets, while Anne blames Nick for leaving so many loose ends behind. Things reach a breaking point when Anne reveals her lawyer even suggested requesting a paternity test. Hurt and angry, Ginny walks away.
Searching for Food and Avoiding Bigger Problems
As the day drags on, Danny and Kate go looking for food around the property.
While exploring, their conversation turns to Nick’s unborn child and eventually to Danny’s own thoughts about parenthood. He admits that he and Claude discussed having children over the years, but they were never completely aligned on the idea. Although he once felt certain about not becoming a parent, he now finds himself less sure.
Back at the motel, Claude asks Jack whether Danny is angry with him. Jack’s answer is simple: everyone seems angry with everyone else.
Meanwhile, Kate discovers a bottle of vodka during their search, though nobody seems particularly interested in celebrating their unexpected lockdown. Jack becomes determined to break into a locked cabinet, convinced it contains supplies that could improve everyone’s mood.
While he struggles with the lock, Anne finally opens up about the chaos surrounding Nick’s finances.
She admits she has no idea what she is doing.
Faced with complicated legal documents and financial decisions, Anne became overwhelmed. Instead of making choices, she avoided them. At one point, she even stored paperwork in the freezer rather than dealing with it. She confesses that despite her mistakes, she genuinely wanted to handle everything properly and hoped people would see her efforts as generous rather than selfish.
Feeling defeated, Anne storms outside and vents her frustration into the empty wilderness.
Relationships Come Under the Microscope
Jack continues trying to keep everyone’s spirits up, but cracks begin appearing elsewhere.
Danny tells him that Kate has not been honest about their marathon training. When confronted, Kate admits she dislikes running and has only appeared active because her fitness app automatically logged activity. She insists she wanted to support Jack but never enjoyed the process.
Jack is hurt by the revelation, though his attention quickly shifts when he finally opens the locked cabinet and discovers nothing useful inside except rat poison.
Determined not to give up, he heads for the snack shack instead.
Inside the motel, Danny and Claude revisit their ongoing disagreement about children. Claude insists he has no regrets about the choices they made together, but the topic remains unresolved.
Jack eventually returns carrying food, offering a temporary distraction from the tension.
The conversation shifts toward parenting and childbirth as Ginny talks about her plans for a natural birth. Anne shares memories of raising Lila, while Jack reflects on how becoming a parent teaches people to live with constant worry.
Claude contributes his own story about witnessing the birth of his nephew and the emotions that came with holding a newborn for the first time.
Ginny eventually asks everyone to change the subject.

A New Understanding Begins To Form
The unexpected lockdown takes another strange turn when the group spots a naked man outside. Moments later, police officers tackle and arrest him, apparently bringing the manhunt to an end.
Later that evening, Anne seeks out Ginny for a private conversation.
Without the others around, the discussion becomes far more honest.
Ginny admits she constantly thinks about what Nick would say if he were still alive and wishes she did not have to face everything on her own. Anne shares a memory of Nick’s preferred baby name and gently tells Ginny that he probably would not have liked the name Cove.
For the first time during the trip, the two women find some common ground.
Elsewhere, Danny admits to Claude that he may genuinely be reconsidering the idea of having children. Rather than arguing, Claude encourages them to think about the decision together.
Jack and Kate also have a long-overdue conversation. Jack confronts her about the fake marathon training and asks why she kept pretending. Kate explains that she was worried about him and did not want to make a difficult period in his life even harder. Jack insists he is doing better than she thinks and does not need to be constantly watched over.
The next morning, the group finally prepares to leave.
Before heading home, they make one last trip up the mountain. This time, Anne and Ginny scatter Nick’s ashes together.
The weekend also ends with two major announcements.
Danny tells the group that he and Claude have decided they are going to have a baby.
Anne then reveals that Ginny will be moving in with her.

Episode 3: Down the Shore
Several months have passed, and the group reunites for their summer vacation at the Jersey Shore.
The beach trip looks very different this time around. Ginny is now caring for baby Eugene, while Anne has become deeply involved in helping raise him. As everyone relaxes on the sand, Anne takes photos of Ginny and jumps in whenever help is needed. Whether it is holding the baby, planning feeding schedules, or keeping track of pumping sessions, she seems to have made herself an essential part of Ginny’s daily routine.
Danny quickly notices how much of Anne’s life now revolves around Eugene.
Meanwhile, Jack returns from the beach shop carrying bags full of games and activities. Most of the group has little interest in joining him. Kate and Claude immediately look for ways to avoid participating, while Ginny abandons a planned game to focus on exercise instead. Kate reluctantly fills in, only to end up with a Velcro paddle stuck in her hair, giving Danny a reason to laugh.
Questions About The Future
That evening, conversation turns toward Danny and Claude’s plans to become parents.
Jack asks whether they are moving forward with adoption, prompting Claude to reveal that they were rejected by an agency. Danny jokes about the reasoning, while Claude admits they are now exploring surrogacy through someone named Brenda.
The discussion soon expands into a broader conversation about relationships and shared interests.
Jack wonders whether couples need common hobbies to stay connected. Kate openly admits she hates many of the beach games he enjoys. Claude points out that Danny no longer shares some of the interests they once had together, while Danny argues that no long-term relationship depends on liking all the same things.
Anne, who spent years married to Nick, says she is happy to have left dating behind altogether.
While everyone else talks, Jack heads to the beach alone to play Kadima. There he meets Mark Brett, a friendly stranger who quickly seems to enjoy Jack’s company. Before long, Mark is inviting Jack to stay and try new glow-in-the-dark paddles.
The rest of the group is thrilled that Jack has found someone willing to join his endless beach activities.
Anne Becomes Eugene’s Second Parent
Back at the house, Ginny and Anne continue managing life with a newborn.
When Ginny’s breast pump stops working, Anne immediately steps in to troubleshoot the problem. The scene leaves Danny more than a little uncomfortable, but it also reinforces just how involved Anne has become.
Later, Danny asks her directly about the arrangement.
Anne explains that helping with Eugene gives her purpose. Taking care of him makes her feel useful and genuinely happy.
That sense of fulfillment becomes even more obvious when Anne learns that Kate and Jack’s room has blackout curtains while hers does not. Since Eugene struggles to sleep, Anne quickly convinces them to swap rooms.
The sacrifice pays off. For the first time in months, Jack and Kate enjoy an uninterrupted night’s sleep.

Jack Finds A New Friend
The next morning, the vacation begins to split into smaller groups.
Jack heads to the beach with Mark, while Kate plans to visit a craft fair. Before long, Jack and Mark are spending the day together flying kites, boogie boarding, and sharing stories about their lives.
Their friendship grows naturally, and Kate notices how comfortable Jack seems around him.
Elsewhere, Anne announces she plans to stay home with Ginny and watch old episodes of Three’s Company. Claude volunteers to babysit Eugene, giving Anne an opportunity to leave the house if she wants.
Later, Jack asks whether Mark can join the group for dinner. Everyone agrees, and Mark is welcomed into the vacation gathering.
The Group Tries To Play Matchmaker
As dinner unfolds, Kate and Danny quickly begin evaluating Mark as a potential match for Anne.
When asked for her opinion, Anne admits that Mark seems perfectly nice but does not find him especially exciting. More importantly, she insists she is happy with her life and has no interest in chasing a relationship simply because everyone else thinks she should.
Kate and Danny remain unconvinced.
They suggest Anne may be avoiding the possibility of moving forward. Anne fires back by pointing out that Danny appears just as afraid of parenthood as she is of dating.
The debate is interrupted when Danny takes over babysitting duties.
Left alone with Eugene, he quickly discovers that caring for a newborn is far more difficult than he expected. The baby cries, Danny panics, and for a while nothing seems to work. Eventually, however, he manages to calm Eugene down.
Meanwhile, Anne and Mark spend time talking together. Their conversation flows easily as they discuss music and life.
Honest Conversations At The End Of The Day
While Anne and Mark get to know each other, Claude takes Ginny out for ice cream.
Away from the rest of the group, Ginny admits she is struggling. Anne has been doing so much to help that she often feels guilty rather than relieved. The more support Anne provides, the more uncomfortable she becomes about relying on her.
Claude encourages her to focus on the future rather than the guilt she is carrying.
Later, Anne and Mark take a walk along the beach.
Both quickly realize that their married friends have been trying to set them up all evening. Mark admits he initially misunderstood the situation and briefly wondered whether Jack and Kate were swingers. Anne bursts out laughing and assures him that is definitely not the case.
Mark eventually invites her back to his sister’s nearby place, explaining that he is staying there temporarily. Anne declines and starts heading home. On the way, she falls into a large hole in the sand before climbing back out and continuing on.
When she returns to the house, she discovers that Kate and Danny are eager for details. Instead, Anne expresses frustration with the entire setup. She feels everyone assumes her life is incomplete simply because she is single.
The conversation becomes emotional as she points out that the couples around her still have someone beside them every night.
Later that evening, Kate admits something of her own to Jack. She wishes she could be the person he is having fun with in the same effortless way he has been enjoying time with Mark. The two reconnect and share a quiet moment together.
Elsewhere, Danny confesses to Claude that taking care of Eugene was harder than he expected. Claude listens patiently as the two continue discussing the possibility of becoming parents.
Long after everyone else has settled in for the night, Anne makes one final decision.
She leaves the house and walks back to find Mark.
The two share a kiss, and Anne chooses to spend the rest of the evening with him.

Episode 4: On the Boardwalk
The morning begins with Anne sneaking home before anyone realizes where she spent the night.
After being woken by Eugene’s cries, she carefully slips away from Mark’s place and returns to the house, only to discover that Ginny has already fed the baby. While helping with Eugene, Anne is questioned about where she disappeared to. She initially avoids answering, but eventually admits that she spent the night with a man.
The revelation immediately becomes the topic of conversation.
Back at the house, Jack is making breakfast when Danny notices the shift in Anne’s mood and quickly figures out what happened. Anne tries to downplay it, mentioning that Mark is busy with family obligations that day. Before long, Mark stops by to return Jack’s vape pen and leaves behind a bag of bagels for Anne.
The gift creates even more excitement among the group.
Inside the bag, Danny and Claude discover a forgotten bra, making it clear that the relationship has already moved beyond a casual conversation.
Danny and Claude Reach Another Crossroads
While Anne deals with questions about Mark, Danny receives a message from Brenda about becoming their surrogate.
The news sparks an immediate disagreement.
Danny believes they should move forward, but Claude unexpectedly reveals that he no longer wants to pursue it. The conversation ends without a resolution, leaving both frustrated.
Later, Danny and Kate go for a bike ride and stumble across a house for sale. Curious, they join an open house and begin imagining a completely different future. Their conversation drifts from real estate to aging, relationships, and parenthood.
Danny admits that Claude’s sudden hesitation has caught him off guard.
Kate encourages him to think carefully about what he really wants. Danny insists he wants to keep moving forward and eventually responds to Brenda, telling her they are interested.
Secrets Come Out At The Beach
Back on the beach, the group settles into another day by the ocean.
Ginny considers letting Eugene experience the water for the first time, but Anne quickly reminds her that he has not received all of his vaccinations yet. After a brief discussion, Ginny decides to wait.
The attention soon shifts elsewhere when Jack spots Mark nearby.
Mark initially avoids them as he attends a family wedding, but that only creates more questions. Ginny openly asks Anne whether she slept with him, and this time Anne simply admits the truth.
At the same time, Kate and Danny end up discussing Jack’s vape pen. Kate is shocked to discover he uses it regularly. She had no idea what it even was when Danny first showed it to her.
Meanwhile, Jack reconnects with Mark and invites him to spend the evening with the group on the boardwalk. Encouraged by Ginny, Anne extends the invitation herself. Mark accepts, promising to leave the wedding reception early.

One Night On The Boardwalk
As everyone gets ready for the evening, several conversations unfold at once.
Anne confronts Jack about the vape pen and questions why he never mentioned it. Jack argues that not every detail of his life needs to be shared. The conversation eventually shifts to old relationships, including Anne’s admission that she once looked up a former boyfriend online and felt satisfied discovering he had not aged particularly well.
Elsewhere, Ginny tells Anne she plans to take Eugene to the boardwalk herself. Anne immediately offers to stay home and babysit, but Ginny refuses. She reminds Anne that she is Eugene’s mother and encourages her to spend time with Mark instead.
The group eventually arrives at the boardwalk together.
Kate decides to try Jack’s vape and quickly feels the effects. Beer follows, and before long she is enjoying herself far more than expected. Jack is surprised when Kate admits she often feels miserable and wonders whether getting high is temporarily helping her avoid those feelings.
Mark soon arrives and easily slips into the group’s evening.
Relationships Are Put To The Test
The boardwalk outing brings moments of fun alongside several uncomfortable truths.
Anne apologizes to Mark for disappearing the night before. Mark brushes it off and points out that neither of them has anything to prove. Since they may never see each other again after the trip, he sees no reason to worry about making a perfect impression.
The two grow closer as the evening continues. They win prizes, share kisses, and spend much of the night together.
Meanwhile, Kate’s evening becomes increasingly chaotic. At one point she mistakenly hugs a complete stranger. Ginny struggles with Eugene after his diaper leaks through the baby carrier. Claude and Danny receive confirmation that Brenda has agreed to be their surrogate, but instead of celebrating, the message reignites their disagreement.
During a ride on the Tilt-A-Whirl, their frustrations finally spill over.
Claude accuses Danny of always getting his way and argues that he has spent years going along with decisions to keep the peace. Danny counters that they may regret passing up this opportunity. Neither convinces the other.
After the ride, Claude walks away.
Vacation Comes To An End
As the night winds down, Mark asks Anne for her phone number. She refuses.
Anne explains that exchanging numbers would break the unspoken rules they have followed throughout the vacation. Instead, Mark gives her the stuffed duck he won earlier in the evening and says goodbye.
Back at the house, Anne tries to convince herself she made the right decision. Danny is less certain. He points out that she left her bra in Mark’s bag and questions whether she is walking away from something she actually wants.
Elsewhere, Danny finds Claude sitting alone on the beach. The two listen to The Three Magic Questions audiobook together and finally return to what matters most. Despite the uncertainty surrounding parenthood, both acknowledge that they love the life they have built together.
The following morning, the group prepares to leave.
Kate strips the bed while Jack throws away his vape pen. Their own conversation leads to a truce, with both admitting they need to stop trying to manage each other’s emotions and simply be honest about how they feel.
Before leaving, Anne discovers one final surprise.
Written on the bottom of the stuffed duck is Mark’s phone number.
As the vacation comes to an end, Anne quietly photographs the house Danny and Kate admired earlier. Nearby, Ginny finally lets Eugene dip his toes into the ocean and gently reminds him that she is his mother.

Episode 5: Big Thanksgiving
The group’s Thanksgiving gathering quickly turns into one of the most emotional holidays they’ve shared in years.
Kate arrives to find Anne hosting far more guests than expected. Alongside their usual friends, Anne has invited Lila, her girlfriend Zadie, Derek, Eric, Terry, Ramona, and several others. While some people question whether the guest list has gotten out of control, Anne seems determined to fill the house with as much company as possible.
Ginny is preparing to move out soon, and Anne admits she is looking forward to finally having her house back.
Jack arrives on his own and immediately begins talking about Thanksgiving traditions. With Nick gone, he wants to preserve as many of the old rituals as possible, including using Nick’s carving knife and recreating the holiday exactly as he remembers it.
Not everyone is focused on the celebration.
Danny and Claude arrive carrying a secret of their own, and it does not take long for tension to begin building beneath the surface.
New Plans Create New Tension
During the gathering, Claude mentions that he and Danny have been discussing the next phase of their lives.
Danny quickly shuts down the conversation before Claude can reveal too much.
Elsewhere, Kate discovers Anne has been researching a property near the shore. The idea is to turn it into a bed-and-breakfast, something Anne could potentially run herself. Jack is clearly uncomfortable with the possibility and worries Anne is making plans that would drastically change their future.
Kate argues that nothing has been decided yet.
The conversation ends without a resolution, but the disagreement lingers.
Meanwhile, Anne spends time with Lila, who explains that she and her friends are considering creating new holiday traditions rather than repeating old family routines every year. Anne encourages her daughter to do what feels right, insisting she does not need anyone worrying about her.
Despite her confidence, it becomes clear that several changes are happening around her at once.
Ginny Prepares To Stand On Her Own
Inside the house, Ginny continues struggling with motherhood.
When Eugene refuses to settle down, Anne immediately steps in to help. Within moments she identifies the problem, discovering an earring near the baby that had been bothering him.
The moment highlights just how much Ginny still relies on Anne.
Ginny admits that without Anne’s help she might have spent hours trying to calm Eugene. Later, Anne offers to help dismantle the crib, but Ginny asks to wait.
The upcoming move clearly feels bigger than simply changing addresses.
Throughout the day, Anne repeatedly encourages Ginny to trust herself more. While Ginny sees her own mistakes, Anne sees someone fully capable of raising her child.

Danny Finally Reveals The Truth
Outside, Kate and Danny find a quiet moment alone.
Before Kate can tell him about Anne’s bed-and-breakfast plans, Danny blurts out his own news.
He and Claude are moving to Italy.
The decision is already made, and the move is only weeks away.
Kate is stunned.
She immediately questions whether Danny truly wants this or whether he is simply following another idea that sounds exciting in the moment. She reminds him that only months earlier he was focused on finding a surrogate and starting a family.
Danny pushes back. While he admits the move is frightening, he insists it represents the next chapter of his life with Claude.
The conversation leaves Kate emotional.
Back inside, Danny struggles with Claude’s small Italian sports car, accidentally creating more problems while trying to move it. The disagreement between them resurfaces, with Claude making it clear he only wants to relocate if Danny is genuinely committed to the decision.
Eventually, Danny reassures him that he is.
Thanksgiving Falls Apart
Dinner finally begins, but the mood continues to deteriorate.
Jack notices Kate has disappeared and goes looking for her. He finds her upstairs in tears.
While trying to understand what is wrong, he discovers paperwork connected to her bed-and-breakfast plans. Kate begs him to leave the situation alone, but Jack ignores her request and confronts Danny.
The misunderstanding quickly escalates.
Jack assumes Danny already knows about the property. Danny, completely confused, explains that he knows nothing about it and is instead focused on moving to Italy.
The argument grows louder. Before long, the entire gathering is pulled into the conflict.
Frustrated and overwhelmed, Jack declares Thanksgiving canceled. He storms outside carrying the turkey and, in a burst of anger, kicks it across the yard.
The moment immediately backfires.
Jack loses his footing, tumbles down the stairs, and injures his ankle. He won’t be able to run the marathon he was training for since the beginning of the season.
Anne Faces Another Goodbye
As the evening comes to an end, guests begin heading home.
Claude checks on Danny, who remains committed to the move despite his lingering fears. Kate and Jack slowly begin repairing the damage from their argument. While icing his injured ankle, Jack admits he handled everything badly. Kate acknowledges that even after all these years, neither of them always knows how to communicate when emotions take over.
At the same time, Anne has one final conversation with Ginny. Ginny admits she has been considering staying longer, but Anne refuses.
Rather than enabling her uncertainty, Anne pushes her forward. She tells Ginny that she is ready to do this on her own and needs to start believing it herself.
Ginny eventually leaves with Eugene. For the first time in a long while, Anne finds herself alone in a quiet house.
She stands there taking in the silence. Then something unexpected happens.
Nick suddenly appears and calls out her name.

Episode 6: Little Thanksgiving
The story jumps back to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as the group gathers for a very different Thanksgiving.
Anne and Nick welcome Danny and Claude to the house, only to be introduced to the newest addition to their family: a dog named Patrizia. The introduction does not go smoothly. Moments after arriving, Patrizia bolts into the woods, forcing Claude to chase after her.
Despite the chaos, Anne is determined to make the holiday special.
Outside, she points out balloons meant to celebrate missed birthdays and milestones that could not be properly observed during lockdown. Kate and Jack arrive wearing matching sweaters and quickly settle into their now-familiar pandemic routine. Jack remains far more cautious than everyone else, refusing to relax even among close friends.
As the group gathers around the fire pit, Anne announces plans for a talent show while conversations drift between family, isolation, and the strange reality of life during quarantine.
Tension Builds Beneath The Surface
While everyone tries to enjoy the holiday, personal concerns begin surfacing.
Danny once again raises the possibility of having a child, but Claude avoids giving a direct answer. Instead, his attention remains fixed on Patrizia, who continues creating problems around the house.
The following morning, Jack and Kate discuss how differently they have approached the pandemic. Jack remains extremely cautious, while Kate gently suggests he may be taking things a little too far.
Elsewhere, Danny notices Nick repeatedly checking his phone.
At the same time, Claude becomes increasingly frustrated with Patrizia’s behavior. The dog refuses to eat, causes messes around the house, and generally seems uninterested in listening to him.
During the family’s virtual talent show, relatives join through video calls, including Anne’s father Don, Danny’s mother Beverly, and other family members. The event provides a brief distraction before things begin unraveling.

COVID Arrives At Thanksgiving
The holiday takes a turn when Kate wakes up feeling unwell.
After taking one of the at-home tests Jack managed to acquire, she learns she is positive for COVID. Jack immediately panics and begins demanding answers about how the virus entered their carefully controlled bubble.
Anne offers Kate a room to isolate in, but Jack continues searching for someone to blame.
Meanwhile, a woman unexpectedly arrives at the house carrying a pie for Nick.
Danny intercepts her before she gets too close and offers to deliver it himself. The encounter creates another problem entirely when Danny questions Nick about his connection to this woman.
Nick eventually admits they shared a drunken kiss during a group dinner.
He insists it was a mistake and claims the COVID shutdown prevented anything further from happening.
Danny strongly encourages him to tell Anne the truth.
Not long afterward, Danny also tests positive and joins Kate in isolation. Confined together, they talk about several ongoing issues, including Claude’s uncertainty about parenthood and Jack’s increasingly intense fear of COVID.

Secrets Start To Unravel
Outside, Claude continues searching for Patrizia while struggling with the possibility that the dog may not be the right fit for their household.
Nick eventually joins him and tries to help.
Elsewhere, Jack becomes convinced someone broke quarantine rules. He questions Beth and Lila, looking for any explanation that might explain the outbreak. Beth eventually reminds him that he spent time around sick people while visiting the local clinic.
The realization leaves him with a different possibility.
At the same time, Anne becomes suspicious of Nick’s constant texting.
When Nick leaves his phone unattended, she checks it and discovers messages from an unknown number.
The discovery raises immediate questions.
Meanwhile, Danny eventually spots Patrizia being admired by two women near an animal rescue organization. Rather than retrieve the dog immediately, he returns home deep in thought about whether he and Claude are truly ready for parenthood.
Thanksgiving Falls Apart
The situation continues spiraling as more positive COVID tests appear.
Jack sits alone in his car listening to pandemic updates when Nick and the others reveal that they have tested positive as well. Jack immediately blames himself for exposing everyone.
Nick tries to reassure him, but the conversation becomes emotional and eventually turns into an argument.
Back at the house, Danny tells Claude that losing track of Patrizia has only reinforced his doubts about becoming a father. Claude is dealing with his own health problems by that point and can barely focus on the discussion.
At dinner, the mood is completely different from the celebration Anne originally planned.
Food tastes strange. People feel sick. Tempers are frayed.
Danny sarcastically thanks Nick for delivering the worst Thanksgiving imaginable. Nick responds with a heartfelt apology, admitting he regrets convincing everyone to gather in the first place.
The biggest confrontation comes later.
Anne discovers the pie delivered and presses Nick for answers. Cornered, he finally confesses that he kissed a collegue.
Nick insists it happened only once and begs Anne not to leave him.
The confession does not land the way he hopes.
Anne reveals she already suspected there had been other problems in their marriage, including another woman connected to a golf tournament. Nick apologizes repeatedly and tells her he loves her, but Anne has reached her limit.
Calling him a douchebag, she storms outside intending to leave.
When she realizes she does not have her car keys, she is forced to return to the house. Overwhelmed and in tears, Anne heads back into the house
In the present day, after remembering all the events of the past Thanksgiving, Anne decides she will not spend Christmas at home this year.

Episode 7: Trento
The group’s Christmas gathering takes them to Italy, where Claude and Danny have started building their new life.
Anne, Kate, and Jack arrive in Trento and are immediately introduced to Claude’s family, including his mother Gloria, his sister Marlena, his nieces, nephew, and several relatives. Danny soon joins them, excited to show off his new surroundings and eager for everyone to experience the traditions that are important to Claude.
Jack, however, arrives carrying unfinished business.
Still embarrassed by his Thanksgiving meltdown, he announces that everyone will be receiving apology gifts. No one seems particularly interested in revisiting the incident, but Jack clearly has not forgiven himself.
Kate tries to reassure him that the others have moved on. The reassurance doesn’t fully land.
Danny Shows Off His New Life
During dinner, Danny embraces the role of local guide.
He shares stories about the region, points out historical landmarks, and outlines plans for the evening, including a visit to a church nativity pageant. The atmosphere is warm, but small moments reveal that not everything is as settled as it appears.
Marlena comments on how much Claude means to her daughters, describing him as a father figure. Elsewhere, relatives make observations about Danny and Kate’s friendship, creating some awkward moments at the table.
Kate brushes off suggestions that there is anything romantic between them.
Later, she admits she wants to rest while the others head out to explore the town.
As the group wanders through markets and holiday displays, Danny complains about Kate’s attitude while Jack continues attempting to hand out apology gifts. Anne, meanwhile, finds herself thinking about how much she misses Ginny and Eugene.
Anne Faces Her Own Regrets
A chance encounter leaves Anne feeling unexpectedly vulnerable.
After learning about the local folklore surrounding La Befana, a character associated with Italian holiday traditions, Anne becomes convinced she bears an unfortunate resemblance to her. Jack quickly reassures her, but the comment sticks with her throughout the day.
Later, while helping prepare for the nativity pageant, Anne is approached with an unusual request.
The woman who traditionally plays La Befana has fallen ill, and organizers want Anne to step into the role.
She refuses immediately. Anne insists she is nothing like the character and wants no part of the performance.
Still, the invitation lingers in her mind.

Jack And Claude Have An Honest Conversation
While helping with preparations, Jack finally admits that his Thanksgiving disaster wasn’t an isolated moment.
He confesses to Claude that he also destroyed the snack shack during their earlier motel trip.
Rather than acting shocked, Claude tells him the truth.
He believes Jack has more anger inside him than he realizes.
The conversation becomes one of the most honest exchanges either man has had in a long time.
Claude admits he struggles with anger too. He explains that people often see him as calm and easygoing, but there are moments when he completely loses control. The difference, he says, is learning to acknowledge those feelings rather than pretending they do not exist.
Jack finally admits what is really bothering him.
He is angry about losing Nick. He is angry about the distance that developed between him and Kate. Most of all, he is angry with himself.
Claude understands. For the first time during the trip, Jack begins to feel heard.
Danny And Kate Confront Reality
Elsewhere, Danny and Kate end up taking an accidental detour on their way to the pageant.
What starts as a minor inconvenience turns into a much deeper conversation.
Danny insists everything will stay the same despite the move. Kate disagrees. She points out that distance changes relationships whether people want it to or not.
Eventually, Danny stops trying to convince her.
Instead, he admits the truth.
Moving to Italy has been harder than he expected.
Although he loves the country and knows how happy Claude is there, he often feels out of place. He realizes that life back home is changing, and some parts of it cannot be recreated overseas.
The conversation becomes emotional.
Kate tells him she is not in love with him, despite what others might assume. What she does feel is a deep connection built over decades of friendship. When she is with Danny, she feels like the same young woman she was when they first met.
Danny feels the same way.
They acknowledge how much they mean to each other and accept that geography will not erase that bond.
The Christmas Pageant Brings Everything Together
As evening approaches, Anne’s emotions finally spill over.
After several drinks and a long conversation about her past, she admits that Nick’s betrayal did not begin with Ginny. Years earlier, she discovered another affair and almost left him. Instead, she stayed.
Now she finds herself wondering how different her life might have been if she had made another choice.
The regrets weigh heavily on her.
Eventually, the priest once again asks her to play La Befana.
This time she agrees.
When the pageant begins, Anne steps onto the stage wearing the costume and fully embraces the role. Before appearing, she tells the others that she is done carrying her regrets and wants to leave them behind.
Meanwhile, Jack notices that Kate ignored several of his calls. She jokingly tells him she was busy rekindling her relationship with Danny.
The joke lands because everyone now understands what Danny and Kate were really doing: saying goodbye to a version of their friendship that will inevitably change.
Later that night, Danny and Claude finally have a difficult conversation of their own.
Danny admits he still feels like an outsider in Italy at times. Claude reminds him that he spent sixteen years living far from his own family in America. The discussion quickly becomes tense.
Claude reveals something important.
At Thanksgiving, he gave Danny an opportunity to back out of the move, and Danny chose not to take it. Claude makes it clear that he does not want to return to the United States.
Before they can resolve the disagreement, Danny receives a phone call from his mother.
The news waiting on the other end appears serious.

Episode 8: Maratona
The season finale begins in Italy during the Christmas holidays, just as Danny prepares to leave for Philadelphia after learning that his mother, Beverly, has been injured in a fall.
Although his taxi is already on the way, Anne refuses to let him leave without celebrating Christmas first. The group squeezes in a last-minute holiday gathering, complete with singing, gifts, and plenty of affection. Danny appreciates the gesture, but he is eager to get moving.
Claude offers to travel with him, but Danny insists on handling the situation alone.
Once Danny departs, the others spend the day exploring the town. Jack continues trying to move past everything that happened during the previous year, while Anne finds herself thinking about a different unresolved chapter of her life.
Anne Reaches Out To Mark
Back at the house, Anne becomes fixated on the stuffed duck Mark gave her at the Jersey Shore.
After calling Ginny to ask about the number hidden on the toy, she finally works up the courage to contact him.
The conversation does not go as planned.
Mark remembers her immediately, though he jokingly pretends otherwise at first. Anne tries to make herself sound far more glamorous than she feels, claiming she has relocated to Italy and is involved with a man named Gianpiero.
Mark casually reveals that he now has a girlfriend named Tori.
The call ends politely, but the reality is clear. Whatever connection existed between them has moved on.
Jack Faces The Marathon
While walking through town, Jack and Kate discover preparations for an upcoming marathon.
Kate immediately sees an opportunity.
After months of talking about running, avoiding running, and arguing about running, she convinces Jack to actually participate.
The next morning, Jack finds himself standing at the starting line wearing borrowed athletic gear and questioning every decision that led him there.
Kate and Anne cheer him on while Anne continues exchanging messages with Mark.
As the race progresses, Jack struggles physically almost from the beginning. He complains about the distance, questions his life choices, and repeatedly considers quitting. Meanwhile, Anne spends her day wandering through town, taking photographs and sending them to Mark.
The text exchange becomes increasingly awkward.
At first, Mark compliments the photos, so Anne keeps sending more.

Danny Returns To Philadelphia
In Philadelphia, Danny quickly discovers that caring for Beverly will not be easy.
Although she is recovering from surgery, she has strong opinions about what happens next and absolutely no interest in moving to Italy.
Claude eventually arrives despite Danny’s earlier objections.
His presence immediately improves Danny’s mood, but it does not solve the larger problem.
Beverly continues rejecting every suggestion about relocating. Aunt Pam supports her position, pointing out all the things she would miss if she left home.
As the discussion drags on, Danny becomes increasingly frustrated.
He argues that Claude has spent years supporting him, sacrificing for him, and helping him build a life. Now Danny wants the same chance to support Claude and remain in Italy.
The emotional speech does not immediately change Beverly’s mind, but it finally makes Claude understand how deeply Danny values their relationship.
Anne Learns A Humiliating Truth
Back in Italy, Anne’s attempt to reconnect with Mark reaches an embarrassing conclusion.
After receiving another call, she learns that one of the photos she sent was not quite what she intended.
Mark awkwardly explains that he would prefer to stop exchanging pictures after receiving what he describes as a photo of her vagina.
Only then does Anne realize she accidentally sent the wrong image.
Mortified, she agrees to end the text conversation.
Despite the humiliation, the incident forces her to look back through all the photos she has taken and reflect on how she sees herself.
Later, while talking with Ginny, Anne admits what happened. Ginny reassures her that the pictures represent who she really is and reminds her how much she has changed.
Danny And Claude Find A Solution
The conflict over Beverly eventually reaches a breaking point.
Danny pleads with his mother to move to Italy, while Beverly continues resisting every suggestion. Claude initially stays quiet, allowing Danny to handle the conversation himself.
Finally, he steps in. Rather than forcing Beverly to move overseas, Claude proposes a compromise. He suggests that he and Danny move into the second floor of Beverly’s house instead.
The announcement surprises everyone.
When Danny tries to object, Claude refuses to back down. This time, he makes the decision himself.
Jack And Kate Finally Move Forward
Meanwhile, the marathon becomes an unexpected turning point for Jack and Kate.
Partway through the race, Jack stops and declares that he is done. Kate refuses to let him quit.
What follows is one of their most honest conversations in years.
Jack accuses her of constantly trying to fix him. Kate responds by admitting how exhausting it has been carrying the emotional weight of their relationship while also trying to keep them moving forward.
The argument clears the air.
Instead of retreating from each other, they finally acknowledge their frustrations and agree to meet in the middle. By the time they realize it, they have crossed the finish line together.
The race ends, but the larger victory comes from finally understanding each other again.
Christmas Brings New Beginnings
During a Christmas video call, the group reconnects from different corners of the world.
Danny, Claude, Beverly, Ginny, and Eugene join Kate, Jack, and Anne for the holiday. The conversation is warm, relaxed, and noticeably calmer than many of their recent gatherings.
Anne also makes a surprising announcement. She has decided to remain in Italy.
When Kate jokingly asks whether this is a brand-new version of Anne, she disagrees. According to Anne, this is not a reinvention at all. It is simply her being herself again.
The following day, Jack and Kate say their goodbyes.
Shortly afterward, Anne meets a man named Gianpiero when he arrives with several packages that belong to her. He casually admits he accidentally opened one and even tried on a pair of her trousers.
The awkward introduction quickly turns into a conversation.
Before leaving, Gianpiero invites Anne to come over. This time, she says yes.
