Netflix Expands NFL Coverage With More Games and NFL Honors in 2026

Netflix is significantly expanding its NFL coverage beginning with the 2026 season. The streamer announced a broader lineup of live games, new holiday matchups, NFL Honors coverage, and an extended partnership with the league running through the 2029–2030 season.

The expanded schedule begins in Week 1 with the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Australia and continues through Super Bowl week in February.

The NFL on Netflix 2026 lineup marks the streamer’s largest NFL commitment so far. Alongside additional live games, Netflix will now become part of the NFL calendar across nearly the entire season, from September through the Super Bowl period. The company also confirmed a new Thanksgiving Eve game, a Week 18 regular season finale, continued Christmas Day coverage, and global streaming rights for NFL Honors.

Netflix Will Stream the NFL’s First Regular Season Game in Australia

The expanded schedule begins on Sept. 10, 2026, with the NFL’s first regular-season game held in Australia.

The matchup will feature the Los Angeles Rams facing divisional rivals the San Francisco 49ers live from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Netflix confirmed the game will stream live globally in more than 200 countries.

The company also noted that local over-the-air broadcasts will still be available within the participating teams’ home markets.

The Australia game becomes the first of five NFL events Netflix plans to stream during the 2026 season.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Week 18 Games Added to the Schedule

One of the biggest additions to the NFL on Netflix 2026 slate is the league’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game.

The Nov. 25 matchup will feature the Green Bay Packers visiting the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

Netflix will also continue its Christmas Day NFL broadcasts after strong streaming numbers from last year’s holiday coverage. The streamer confirmed two games will air on Dec. 25 at:

  • 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT
  • 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT

According to Netflix, last year’s Christmas Day game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings became the most-streamed NFL regular season game in United States history.

Another new addition is a Week 18 game scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT during the final weekend of the regular season, when playoff spots are still being decided.

NFL Honors Will Stream on Netflix

Beyond live games, Netflix also announced it will stream NFL Honors globally during Super Bowl week.

The annual awards ceremony recognizes the league’s top players, coaches, and performances from the season.

The addition further expands Netflix’s sports programming strategy as the company continues increasing its live event offerings.

Under the newly extended four-year agreement with the NFL, Netflix will now stream:

  • A Week 1 international game
  • A Thanksgiving Eve game
  • One Christmas Day game
  • A Week 18 matchup
  • NFL Honors

The deal extends through the 2029–2030 NFL season.

Netflix Continues Expanding Its Sports Programming

The NFL announcement arrives as Netflix continues investing heavily in sports programming, documentaries, and live events.

The streamer also highlighted several NFL-related projects already part of its lineup, including:

Quarterback Season 3 premieres July 14, 2026, and follows Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, Cam Ward, and Joe Flacco during the NFL season.

Netflix additionally referenced several recent live sports broadcasts, including:

  • WWE Raw
  • MLB Opening Night
  • World Baseball Classic coverage in Japan
  • Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov

The company also confirmed that Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will headline Netflix’s first mixed martial arts broadcast on May 16.

Looking further ahead, Netflix is set to exclusively broadcast the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the United States and Canada in 2027 and 2031.
