Production has officially started in Atlanta, Georgia on Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke Netflix series, a new 16-episode firefighter drama written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry.

Netflix confirmed the cast alongside the production start, marking the latest project under Perry’s multi-year first-look series deal with the streamer. Under that partnership, Perry writes, directs, and produces both feature films and television series for Netflix.

This time, the focus shifts to firefighters.

The series will run for 16 hour-long episodes.

Perry serves as writer, director, and producer. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland will also produce for Tyler Perry Studios.

A 16-Episode Order Under Perry’s Ongoing Netflix Deal

Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke continues the collaboration between Tyler Perry Studios and Netflix under a previously announced multi-year first-look series agreement.

The new firefighter drama joins an existing slate of Tyler Perry titles on the platform. Among them is Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black, which has released two seasons to date. According to Netflix, the series has spent a combined 10 weeks in the Global English TV Top 10 and reached the number one position in 28 countries. It has also been renewed for a third season.
