Running Point Season 2 Adds New Cast Members to Kate Hudson’s Netflix Comedy

Netflix has revealed a major Running Point Season 2 cast shake-up, adding a fresh lineup of recurring guest stars while confirming the return of several fan favorites.

The Kate Hudson–led basketball workplace comedy, which spent five weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV list and reached the Top 10 in 83 countries during its debut season, is officially back in production in Los Angeles.

New Recurring Guest Stars

Season 2 welcomes an impressive mix of comedy veterans and rising talent:

  • Robert Townsend (The Bear, Before) as Norm Stinson — a brilliant but grouchy veteran basketball coach who knows how to win but struggles with communication.
  • Ken Marino (The Residence, The Other Two) as Al Fleischman — the self-appointed “toilet king of Orange County,” eager to score better courtside seats for the Los Angeles Waves.
  • Tommy Dewey (Casual, Saturday Night) as Magnus — the sharp, calculating general manager of the Toronto Trappers.
  • Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever, Fargo) as Aruna — the Waves’ blunt, quick-thinking star accountant who can maneuver around almost any financial hurdle.
  • Jake Picking (Top Gun: Maverick, Hollywood) as Tommy White — the Waves’ charismatic new point guard.
  • Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Game Over, Man!) as Leroy — Cam’s unpredictable but sober companion.
  • Duby Maduegbunam (Caught Up, Sistas) as Benson — the newest basketball player on the Los Angeles Waves roster.
  • Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) as Zoé Debay — a poised former child star on the cusp of A-list fame.

Returning Players and Upgraded Roles

Netflix confirmed that Justin Theroux and Uche Agada, who recurred in Season 1, will return as series regulars. The familiar core lineup is also back:

Kate Hudson, Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, and more. Fan-favorite guest stars such as Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, and Rob Huebel are expected to return in select episodes.

A Quick Look Back at Season 1

Created by Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, Running Point follows Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), unexpectedly thrust into the role of president of the Los Angeles Waves after her brother resigns in disgrace. Isla, long overshadowed within her family’s basketball empire, must prove she’s the right person to lead a storied franchise while facing skepticism from her brothers, the board, and the sports world.

The debut season balanced sharp workplace comedy with family drama, earning a loyal audience and strong global engagement.

What to Expect in Season 2

Season 2 continues Isla’s effort to redefine the Los Angeles Waves while navigating bigger personalities, both on and off the court. The new additions hint at expanded storylines: a hard-to-please veteran coach, a demanding superfan with influence, and a new GM with his own agenda could all challenge Isla’s leadership. Meanwhile, fresh on-court talent like Tommy White and Benson will likely shake up the team dynamic.
