Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Boots, its new eight-episode, one-hour comedic drama premiering on October 9, 2025.
The footage features a fresh recording of George Michael’s Freedom performed by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, whose 30 singers include U.S. military veterans, a fitting tribute for a show about identity, service, and resilience.

What Boots is about
Boots Netflix delivers an irreverent, off-beat take on the coming-of-age story. Set in the 1990s U.S. Marine Corps, when being gay in the military was still illegal, the series follows directionless, closeted Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his straight best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh).
Together with a diverse group of recruits, they face the intense physical and emotional challenges of boot camp, discovering friendship and self-acceptance in a world built to break conformity. With sharp wit and plenty of heart, the show explores what it means to find your place when the system seems determined to push you out.

Why Boots Stands Out
By placing a closeted recruit and his straight best friend inside the harsh Marine Corps of the 1990s, Boots Netflix offers something fresh in the coming-of-age genre. It blends humor, grit, and identity politics with a nostalgic ’90s aesthetic, and its soundtrack, teased with the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus cover of Freedom, sets the tone for a story about breaking ranks and finding belonging.
