Leanne Morgan Comedy Series Leanne Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix

Netflix has confirmed that the Leanne Morgan comedy series Leanne has been renewed for Season 2 on Netflix, extending the life of its breakout multi-cam sitcom.

The show debuted earlier this year, quickly landing in the Global Top 10 and drawing strong reviews for its blend of traditional sitcom rhythm and Morgan’s signature voice.

Renewal Announced with Cast and Creator Reactions

The announcement came with enthusiasm from both co-creator and star Leanne Morgan and longtime television producer Chuck Lorre.

Morgan told, “We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us and we can’t wait to be back!”

Lorre, reflecting on the partnership, added: “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”

Their comments frame Season 2 as both a continuation of a successful first outing and an expansion of Morgan’s growing relationship with Netflix.

Where Season 1 Left Off

The first season of Leanne introduced audiences to Morgan as a woman whose life is upended when her husband of 33 years leaves her. Surrounded by her family, including her loyal sister Carol, played by Kristen Johnston, Leanne is forced to rebuild and rediscover her independence.

Balancing sharp one-liners with heartfelt turns, the show leaned on a seasoned ensemble: Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers, and Hannah Pilkes. Created by Morgan alongside Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre, the series stayed grounded in Morgan’s comedic style while nodding to the broader traditions of network sitcoms.

A Broader Comedy Push at Netflix

The renewal also reflects Netflix’s continued investment in comedy, both scripted and stand-up. Alongside Leanne, the platform has lined up new specials and shows from performers including Bert Kreischer, Shane Gillis, Tom Segura, Ali Wong, John Mulaney, Kevin Hart, and Michelle Buteau.

For Morgan herself, the expansion is notable. Her stand-up special, Unspeakable Things, premieres globally on November 4, 2025, marking the second special of her Netflix career after I’m Every Woman in 2023. That earlier hour became Netflix’s most-viewed comedy special by a woman since early 2023, establishing Morgan as a central figure in the streamer’s comedy lineup.

The Team Behind the Series

Leanne comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers include Lorre, Susan McMartin, Nick Bakay, Leanne Morgan, and Judi Marmel. The combination of veteran comedy showrunners and Morgan’s fresh point of view has given the series both polish and a distinctive voice.

What’s Next

While Netflix has not yet announced production details or a release window for Season 2, the renewal ensures that Morgan’s sitcom world will return alongside her new stand-up work. With the first season setting up both family dynamics and Morgan’s own reinvention, there’s ample room for the story to evolve in its sophomore outing.

Looking Ahead on Season 2

The Leanne Morgan comedy series Leanne renewed for Season 2 on Netflix continues a streak of success for both Morgan and the platform. Backed by Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. Television, the series blends sitcom tradition with Morgan’s Southern storytelling flair. With a new stand-up special arriving in November and a second season now confirmed, Morgan’s presence at Netflix is only set to grow.
