Wednesday Season 2: Netflix Drops First Six Minutes Plus New Cast Shakeups and Release Plan

Netflix just gave fans their first glimpse into the twisted new school year at Nevermore Academy.

The streamer debuted the cold open of Wednesday Season 2 live at Tudum 2025, offering a full six-minute preview ahead of the series’ return this summer.

The Addams Family spinoff, which stars Jenna Ortega as the sharp-tongued Wednesday Addams, returns in a two-part release. Season 2 will arrive in two drops: the first on Wednesday, August 6, and the second on Wednesday, September 3.

A New Year, a New Mystery

According to Netflix, Wednesday is back at Nevermore Academy and quickly finds herself wrapped in yet another dark and supernatural mystery. But this time, things cut even deeper.

Season 2 will follow her as she faces new enemies, uneasy alliances, and more secrets buried beneath Nevermore’s gothic façade. Wednesday’s signature wit and detached charm remain intact, but the tone is taking a darker turn a deliberate creative shift revealed by Ortega earlier this year.

The series will place less focus on romance and more on eerie twists, cryptic clues, and the kind of unsettling discoveries that put Wednesday in her element.

Cast Changes and New Faces

Two characters from Season 1 will not be returning. Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe) and Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka) have exited the cast ahead of the second season.

Meanwhile, the big surprise?

Lady Gaga is joining the world of Wednesday in a major guest role. She’ll play Rosalind Rotwood, a legendary figure tied to the history of Nevermore Academy. Her appearance was confirmed on stage during Tudum and is expected to play a key role in Part 2 of the season.

What’s Next for Wednesday Addams?

Now back at Nevermore, Wednesday must navigate fresh threats, unresolved rivalries, and some lingering family drama all while trying to survive another semester surrounded by the supernatural. If the opening scene is any indication, Season 2 leans harder into horror, drawing from its gothic roots and giving Ortega even more room to sharpen Wednesday’s edge.

With a new mystery unfolding and the arrival of characters like Rosalind Rotwood, Wednesday Season 2 promises to push the story deeper into darker territory.
