Leanne Morgan’s Netflix Debut Is a Bold, Funny Take on Starting Over Later in Life

The new comedy from Chuck Lorre premieres July 31 with 16 episodes.

Netflix has locked in its next big laugh-out-loud series and this one’s built on hot flashes, heartbreak, and a whole lot of jello salad.

Leanne, a fresh comedy series created by Leanne Morgan, Susan McMartin, and TV heavyweight Chuck Lorre, will premiere all 16 episodes globally on July 31.

The show stars Morgan in her first leading role for the platform, bringing her signature Southern wit to a story about love lost, family found, and the unexpected chaos of reinventing your life after menopause.

What Is Leanne About?

After 33 years of marriage, Leanne’s husband leaves her for another woman. Suddenly single, a grandmother, and deep into menopause, she’s left to figure out what comes next. It’s not the life she imagined, but with the support of her eccentric family and a whole lot of determination, she begins to carve out a new path with humor and hard-earned wisdom.

The story mixes heart, honesty, and classic sitcom charm, with a few irreverent turns that feel right at home in the Lorre universe (The Big Bang Theory, Mom, Two and a Half Men).

Not Your Typical Sitcom

This isn’t just another sitcom; Leanne is a show about aging without apology. It brings attention to a demographic often sidelined in television, doing so with humor that feels earned, not exaggerated. Morgan’s real-life experience as a stand-up comic and mother gives the show authenticity that anchors its more outrageous moments.

If you’re a fan of feel-good comedy with a sharp edge and maybe a casserole or two, Leanne is worth adding to your summer watchlist.
