Tyler Perry’s She the People Debuts Trailer and Key Art Ahead of Netflix Premiere

Netflix has dropped the official trailer and key art for Tyler Perry’s She the People — a new political dramedy that mixes sharp social commentary with family dynamics, public pressure, and personal ambition.

The first part of the series premieres on May 22, with Part 2 set to follow on August 14, only on Netflix.

What Is She the People About?

Set in the world of state politics, She the People follows Antoinette Dunkerson, a rising political star who wins her race to become Lieutenant Governor. But as the spotlight intensifies, Antoinette quickly discovers that leading from second-in-command isn’t as empowering as it seems — especially under the thumb of a sexist and dismissive governor.

Navigating her role in office would be challenging enough, but Antoinette’s personal life is also under public scrutiny. With her family now pushed into the political spotlight, she must balance the demands of public service with the private dramas of those closest to her.

It’s a series that blends politics, power, family, and identity, tackling big issues with humor and heart — all through Tyler Perry’s signature lens.

Why It Matters

She the People arrives at a cultural moment when the conversation around women in leadership, representation, and political power remains highly relevant. With a sharp focus on systemic barriers, gender dynamics, and family pressures, the series is poised to resonate with audiences who want both drama and real-world reflection.
