PULSE Premieres on Netflix — A High-Stakes Medical Drama Set to Get Your Heart Racing

Netflix is entering the ER with its first English-language medical procedural, PULSE, premiering globally on April 3, 2025.

Set against the backdrop of a Category 4 hurricane and the life-and-death chaos of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, PULSE delivers high-stakes tension, steamy secrets, and the messy realities of modern medicine—all in one heart-pounding hourlong drama.

The Story: One Night. One Storm. One Shot at Survival.

As a deadly hurricane barrels toward the coast, third-year medical resident Dr. Danny Simms (played by Willa Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly promoted when respected Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended under murky circumstances. But when the hospital goes into lockdown, the two must work side-by-side, confronting both a mounting wave of trauma cases and the fallout from their own explosive, illicit relationship.

As the night unfolds, PULSE explores not only the adrenaline of emergency medicine but the emotional fractures and personal histories of the doctors trying to hold it all together. For these medical professionals, saving lives is often easier than managing their own.

Created by Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer, Chicago Med), who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan), PULSE takes the classic medical drama format and injects it with fresh urgency and cinematic style.

The series is executive produced by Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, and Kate Dennis, with a sharp, character-driven ensemble that ensures PULSE hits all the right beats—from romance and rivalry to crisis and catharsis.

Why PULSE Is One to Watch

From emotional complexity to breakneck pacing, PULSE pulses with the same tension that made shows like Grey’s Anatomy, ER, and The Resident must-watch television. But with a modern lens and deeper dives into mental health, sexuality, and ethical conflict, PULSE pushes the genre into bold, emotionally rich territory.

Whether you’re a fan of medical dramas, disaster thrillers, or messy human relationships, PULSE is a binge-worthy ride from start to finish.
