Survival of the Thickest Returns for Season 2 — Premiering March 27 on Netflix

Michelle Buteau is back and bolder than ever in Season 2 of Netflix’s hit comedy Survival of the Thickest—premiering March 27, 2025.

Inspired by Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays, the series continues its heartfelt and hilarious exploration of life, love, and self-worth through the lens of Mavis Beaumont, a Black, plus-size stylist navigating the fashion world—and the dating scene—with unapologetic confidence.

About the Series

Survival of the Thickest follows Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau), a woman determined to thrive on her own terms. After heartbreak and career curveballs in Season 1, Mavis enters the new season with fresh momentum. She’s building her brand as a rising stylist, embracing her identity with pride, and leaning on her chosen family, fierce fashion sense, and signature lip gloss to keep moving forward.

This season dives even deeper into the themes that made the first one a fan favorite—self-love, community, body positivity, and the often hilarious realities of adulting. Whether she’s styling celebrity clients or swiping on dating apps, Mavis continues to show that success doesn’t look one way—and thriving comes in every size.
