“Find Me Falling” is the latest Netflix romantic comedy released on Friday, July 22, 2024. Directed and written by Stelana Kliris, the movie offers a visually appealing escape into the beautiful landscapes of Cyprus, rich in culture and musical charm.

The story follows John Allman (played by Harry Connick Jr.), an aging rock star whose popularity is waning after a failed album. Seeking a break from his career, he moves to an isolated cliffside home on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
However, his plan to keep a low profile is disrupted when he discovers that his house is known as a suicide hotspot. He is routinely confronted by desperate souls contemplating ending their lives. Initially, John attempts to build a fence to prevent people from jumping.
In Cyprus, John reconnects with Sia (Agni Scott), the woman who inspired his hit song “Girl on the Beach” and his long-lost love. Their initial meeting is awkward, marked by years of unresolved emotions and missed opportunities. Sia is an accomplished doctor and a strong, independent single mother who has moved on with her life, focusing on her career and her daughter Melina, played by Ali Fumiko Whitney. The dynamic between Sia and her family, especially her relationship with her daughter and sister, Koula, adds a layer of cultural richness to the film.
Melina works at her aunt’s grocery shop and delivers John’s daily groceries. At night, she sings at the local restaurant. The young woman dreams of becoming a singer. Melina has never met her father, as her mother told her he was a tourist with whom she had a summer fling.
One evening, John invited Sia for a dinner date and asked Melina to help him cook. Unbeknownst to John, Melina and Sia were related. When Sia arrived, she found a woman’s scarf and assumed that John hadn’t changed. However, she soon discovers her daughter in the house, helping John with dinner. It was then that John realized Melina is his daughter.
When Sia fell in love with John, she decided not to follow him to New York because she didn’t want to give up on her dreams to be with him. After discovering she was pregnant, she went to New York and attended one of John’s concerts, managing to sneak backstage. There, she saw John surrounded by groupies and realized she didn’t want to raise her child in that environment, so she left.
One night at the restaurant, Melina asks John to perform the song “Girl on the Beach” together. John, who is drunk, reveals that he is her father. This news initially makes Melina angry with her mother, but she eventually forgives her. While in Cyprus, John writes a potential hit song called “Find Me Falling,” which could turn his career around. At first, he plans to return to New York but later realizes that he has a family in Cyprus and can’t just disappear from them. He also realizes that he is still in love with Sia. With Melina’s help, he serenades Sia in Greek and wins her back. John gives the new song he had written to Melina, who starts her singing career in New York.
In the end, John decides not to build a fence to keep people from jumping but instead puts up a sign that says, “Let’s talk about it.”
Where was Find Me Falling filmed?
Filming for “Find Me Falling” took place throughout Cyprus. The cliffside scenes were filmed in Pegeia, a town on the western side of the island, near the city of Pafos.
The film beautifully captures the scenic landscapes of the island, from its crystal-clear waters to vibrant local markets. This not only enhances the movie’s visual appeal but also embeds it in the rich cultural context of Cyprus.
The movie was filmed in the Kaimakli neighborhood of Nicosia, the island’s capital.
In “Find Me Falling,” John’s skinny-dipping scene is filmed at Titsiros, or Pezounospilioi beach in Paralimni, located on the island’s east coast. “Titsiros” translates to “naked,” fittingly.
The house on the cliff is not real it was constructed for the movie and was situated above White River Beach, an environmentally protected area in Pegeia. Production had to wrap before turtles arrived to lay their eggs on the beach.
