Regina King will portray Shirley Chisholm in the upcoming film that portrays Chisholm’s historic run for the US presidency. In 1968, she became the first Black woman to be elected to the US Congress and 1972, Chisholm became the first Black candidate to seek a major party’s nomination for President.
The film, “Shirley” is written and directed by John Ridley.
