Get ready to Pour It Out once more. Sweet Magnolias was renewed in October for its fourth season. Now the production date has been announced.
WHEN SWEET MAGNOLIAS SEASON 4 WILL START FILMING?
Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias will be filmed in Atlanta from January 2024 till approximately July 2024.
It will definitely be exciting to head back to Serenity with Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen.
The series is based on the bestselling novel by Sheryl Woods.
For season 4, the executive producer and showrunner, Sheryl J. Anderson, will be returning along with EP Dan Paulson and co-EPs Norman Buckley and Matt Drake.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM SEASON 4?
Sheryl J. Anderson told Tudum that Season 4 will explore more of the conflicts introduced in the finale, “examining the twists and turns of romance, the complexity of friendship, the surprises that pop up in life, and how all these things make us more grateful for the people who love us, the people who fight for, and with, us, and the people who can make us laugh, whatever we’re going through.”
She continues, “The beating heart of this show is the deep relationship between these three amazing women and how they sustain and celebrate each other. We’re always eager to share the moments that make life special with them and through them. But perhaps what excites me most about being able to bring Season 4 to life is that I get to collaborate again with our marvelous writers, cast, and crew. I get to live in Serenity again, to soak up the strength and happiness of a town where people truly want the best for each other and are willing to put in the work necessary to make that happen.”
WHERE WE LEFT OFF IN SEASON 3?
The season 3 finale didn’t end with a major cliffhanger and could have functioned as a series finale.
HELEN & RYAN BREAKUP
In the Season 2 finale, Helen’s ex-boyfriend Ryan proposes to her. Although Helen wants a child, she has to tell Ryan about her miscarriage and the slim chances of her being able to conceive. They try to reconcile but soon realize that they are not meant to be together. Towards the end of the season, Helen and Erik seem to want to start a relationship.
MADDIE & CAL
Maddie is reevaluating her relationship with Cal, who recently started working in construction. They both agree to take things slowly to better understand each other. Maddie also forms a friendship with Pastor June and finds inspiration to enroll in a drawing class. The class motivates her to co-author a children’s book with her mother.
DANA SUE & RONNIE
The couple has decided to renew their vows in a ceremony to reconfirm their love for each other. However, the money they had saved for the event has been used by Kathy to leave town. Fortunately, Dana Sue and Ronnie are beloved members of their community. With the help of the town’s residents, they organize a wonderful ceremony for the couple.
THE SWEET MAGNOLIAS’ BIG FIGHT
Before Helen realizes that she and Ryan are not compatible, Maddie and Dana Sue confront her about her unhappiness. Helen feels offended by their interference and the women stop speaking.
TY & ANNIE
Ty decides not to go to college. During the third season, Annie secretly dates Jackson for a while but eventually breaks up with him. Even though they don’t officially start dating, they hold hands at Dana Sue and Ronnie’s vow renewal, which makes them both realize that their relationship is more than just a simple friendship.
KYLE & LILY
Mary Vaughn prohibits Kyle and Nellie from seeing or dating each other. In the third season, Kyle receives flowers and cards from a secret admirer whom he assumes to be Nellie. Later, he finds out that his secret admirer was actually Lily all along. Upon discovering this, Kyle and Lily begin to date each other.
NOREEN, ISAAC, & BILL
Noreen is going to start working at a spa. Bill asked a woman to spend some time with their daughter Rebecca, but she refused and told him she would think about it. Isaac still hasn’t told anyone, including Bill, that he is his son. However, from the final scenes of the season, it appears that he is ready to share the news with Noreen.

Bill is still unaware to be Isaac father. Isaac hasn0t told anyone yet, but form the final scenes of season 3 it looked like he is ready to tell Noreen. that he wasn’t allowed to have contact with baby Rebecca, he comes to her at the end of the season asking to spend some time with his daughter. She refuses, and tells him that she’ll think about it — on her own schedule.
KATHY IS BACK IN SERENITY TO CAUSE TROUBLES
Kathy, Ronnie’s sister is back in Serenity and will cause a lot of trouble for many characters. She tries to steal Erik from Dana Sue, ruin Annie’s birthday party, start a romantic relationship with Maddie’s ex-husband Bill, and then leave with him at the end of season 3. The only way she was convinced to leave was when Ronnie paid her a large sum of money.
HELEN TAKES IN CECE
Helen helps out CeCe’s family. She takes the girl in for her final year at Serenity High while her parents move out of town for new jobs.
