THE BARBENHEIMER EFFECT
Barbenheimer not only dominated the box office last summer but also received the most nominations for the Golden Globes. Greta Gerwig’s movie “Barbie” scored ten nominations, making it the second most nominated movie in the 81-year history of the ceremony. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” followed closely with eight nominations.
This year is a significant one for the Globes as they have new leadership and an expanded voting body consisting of 300 individuals across 75 countries.
The awards ceremony will feature 25 returning categories and two new ones: Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement (CBOA) in Motion Pictures.
NETFLIX RECEIVED THE MOST NOMINATIONS
Netflix received the most nominations of any media company, with 28, while Warner Bros. Discovery followed closely with 27 nominations.
The nominations were announced Monday, November 11, by Cedric “The Entertainer” and Wilmer Valderrama.
The 81st Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 7, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton. The three-hour ceremony will air live on CBS, streamed on Paramount+.
NETFLIX NOMINATIONS
Bradley Cooper’s movie “Maestro” has earned four nominations. The actors Charles Melton, Julianne Moore, and Natalie Portman, have also received nominations for their outstanding performances in “May December.”
In the series category, “Beef,” “The Diplomat,” and “The Crown” have all been recognized for their excellence. “The Crown” has been nominated every year it was eligible and has become a consistent favorite.
